Pick of the week
Rugby Union: Men’s Six Nations – Scotland v England
Saturday 14 February, 4.10pm, ITV1 HD (CH 101)
The conditions in Rome last week may have made the match somewhat farcical (albeit entertaining), but they arguably should have negated any home advantage. And yet Scotland fell short, with their defence horribly exposed by some lively Italian attacks. Coach Gregor Townsend was already under pressure after a difficult autumn, and that defeat will mean they’re battling to stay out of the Six Nations basement rather than fighting for honours.
With that in mind, you’d think a resurgent England would be the last opponents Townsend would want to face. However, Scotland have an excellent recent record against them, having won the Calcutta Cup every year between 2021 and 2024 and lost by just a single point at Twickenham last year. Back in Edinburgh, they’ll be determined to make amends for that agonising loss and get their campaign back on track.
It’ll be easier said than done, though. England continued their impressive 2025 form against Wales in their opening game, looking seriously fluent and supremely confident. Henry Arundell may have been a surprise starter on the wing but a hat-trick later, it was clear both why he claimed the shirt and how fluid and adaptable this team are. And captain Maro Itoje will be back too. Scotland are capable of getting a result. But England will expect nothing less than a convincing win.

Sleepless In Seattle
Saturday 14 February, 9pm, Film4 HD (CH 428)
What are your favourite romcoms? You might be surprised to learn that there’s one woman behind many films that just popped into your head: Nora Ephron. The Hollywood powerhouse wrote and/or directed some of the biggest names in the genre including Heartburn, You’ve Got Mail and When Harry Met Sally. But her finest hour came with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks’s rendezvous in Sleepless In Seattle, in which an eight-year-old boy calls a radio talk show to help his widowed father find love again. Will it make you believe that the love of your life is waiting for you at the top of New York City’s Empire State Building? Absolutely. It’s got enough classic romcom magic to make your heart flutter on Valentine’s Day.
