It’s a week of huge finals but there’s one that stands out. Arsenal are in their first Champions League final for 20 years, with a squad built on solid defence and intelligent set-piece tactics but with plenty of eye-catching talent in forward positions – and they now have experience of winning a Premier League title.

The Gunners may have stuttered at times in the second half of the season but they showed discipline, grit and no little skill to get over the line. And let’s not forget, in the Champions League they’ve been relentless: the only team to win eight from eight in the league phase, they’ve never looked in danger of losing during the knockout rounds. There’s no doubt PSG are an intimidating prospect, but if any team can go toe-to-toe with them and believe they can win, it’s Arsenal.

Elsewhere, there’s a weekend of action from Wembley as the men’s and women’s Challenge Cup finals are followed by the Women’s FA Cup final. Keep reading for match previews and more sporting highlights on Virgin TV this week, including the final of darts’ Premier League, the French Open from Paris, cricket, cycling and more.

Wednesday 27 May

Pick of the day
Football: UEFA Conference League Final – Crystal Palace v Rayo Vallecano
6.30pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521) + TNT Sports Ultimate (CH 525)

Based in an unglamorous but vibrant working-class district of a capital city. Overshadowed by more successful city rivals. In their first ever European final. All these descriptions apply to both the teams in this year’s Conference League showdown. Can coach Oliver Glasner augment his already impressive legacy by leading Palace to their second major trophy in as many seasons? Or can Madrid underdogs Rayo cap their recent rise by nabbing the prize? Whoever wins, expect the fan celebrations to be wild.

Thursday 28 May

Pick of the day
Darts: PDC Premier League Final – The O2, London
7pm, Sky Sports Action HD (CH 510)

Luke Littler and Jonny Clayton have streaked ahead of the pack in this year’s Premier League, winning 10 of the 16 nights between them, and nailing the big scores along the way – Littler has 23 more 180s than anyone else with 121. So can we expect these two to contest the final? The competition doesn’t always work like that, and defending champ Luke Humphries is the man in form after finishing the season strongly. Those three and Gerwyn Price will compete for the title on stage at The O2 on what’s sure to be an exciting night of darts.

Friday 29 May

Pick of the day
Rugby Union: United Rugby Championship Quarter-final – Glasgow Warriors v Connacht
7pm, Premier Sports 1 HD (CH 528)

Glasgow have had a terrific season so far, leading the URC table thanks to a 100% home record and the reliability of their player of the season George Horne, plus tries throughout the team. Scotland backs Kyle Rowe, Jamie Dobie and Kyle Steyn have all made huge contributions, while Namibia’s Patrick Schickerling has established himself as one of the league’s best prop forwards. Connacht had to bounce back from a poor start but did so in style, winning eight of their last nine games to secure a play-off place – but the Warriors will be the favourites at Scotstoun Stadium.

Saturday 30 May

Pick of the day
Rugby League: Challenge Cup Final – Wigan Warriors v Hull Kingston Rovers
2pm, BBC One HD (CH 101)

The supposed dress rehearsal for this final in the form of last week’s Super League fixture turned out to be nothing of the sort: Wigan rested most of their first-choice XIII to keep them fresh and received a 62-4 thrashing from a full-strength Rovers at Craven Park. So which approach will reap the rewards at Wembley? Find out when the two most recent Challenge Cup winners will duke it out again in the showpiece game. Before this match, Wigan’s women’s side defend the trophy they claimed in 2025 against four-time winners St Helens, live on BBC Two HD.

Sunday 31 May

Pick of the day
Football: Women’s FA Cup Final – Brighton & Hove Albion v Manchester City
2pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521)  + TNT Sports Ultimate (CH 525) + 2.15pm, Channel 4 HD (CH 104)

After celebrating the WSL title and a slew of individual awards for top scorer Khadija “Bunny” Shaw, Man City will start as favourites against a team who have never reached a final or played at Wembley – but don’t rule out Brighton, who are having their best season in years. They knocked out three WSL clubs (including Arsenal) on their way to the final, and both sides will remember that the Seagulls slowed City’s march to the title by beating them at the end of April. With veteran schemer and former Lioness Fran Kirby at the heart of the team, Albion are more than capable of conjuring up magic moments. It could be a close one.

Pick of the day
Tennis: French Open At Roland-Garros
9.30am, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521) + TNT Sports 4 HD (CH 524) + TNT Sports Ultimate (CH 525)

It was emotional in the early stages of the men’s singles, as favourites Stan Wawrinka and Gaël Monfils made their final appearances – and a new French star was potentially born in the form of 17-year-old Moïse Kouamé, who knocked out the experienced Marin Čilić. Will he still be in contention when the fourth round comes to a close on Monday? With the mixed doubles quarter-finals also scheduled for today, don’t miss the clay-court Grand Slam action from Paris.

Tuesday 2 June

Pick of the day
Cricket: England v India – 2nd Women’s T20
6pm, Sky Sports Cricket HD (CH 505)

Ahead of the T20 World Cup, England got a boost with a 2-1 series win over holders New Zealand – achieved without injured captain Nat Sciver-Brunt – thanks to some impressive bowling, especially from Linsey Smith and stand-in skipper Charlie Dean. Three matches against India, of which this is the second, will provide another stern test as they head towards the World Cup, starting on 12 June. The venue is Bristol’s County Ground, and the tourists have two of the world’s top-ranked batters in Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma.

Wednesday 3 June

Pick of the day
Cycling: Women’s UCI World Tour – Giro D’Italia Stage 5
2.30pm, TNT Sports 3 HD (CH 523)

The first mountain stage of this year’s Giro Femminile starts in Longarone, in the Dolomites directly north of Venice, and follows a 146km route to Santo Stefano di Cadore. It takes in some serious peaks along the way, including the Passo Tre Croci at over 1,800m and the Passo di Sant’Antonio, although the toughest section comes towards the end as the riders climb 363m in 4km on the way up to Costa. Australia’s Sarah Gigante was Queen of the Mountains last year and also came third in the overall classification.
