Here’s all the very best TV shows and movies coming to Netflix this month, including a star-studded cast solving a grisly murder

Get ready for another month of top-quality TV series, movies and more dropping on Netflix in August. Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kinglsey and Celia Imrie form a starry supersleuthing quartet in The Thursday Murder Club, while more screen royalty are heading to Nevermore Academy as Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper and Joanna Lumley join the cast for season 2 of Wednesday. The star power doesn’t end there, though, as BAFTA winner Vanessa Kirby leads pulsating crime thriller Night Always Comes and Suranne Jones is faced with an impossible choice in heart-racing drama Hostage.
Love is in the air for Sophia Carson and Corey Mylchreest in heart-fluttering romcom My Oxford Year, as well as for a new batch of hopeful singletons as Love Is Blind UK returns. If outrageous series are more of your thing then jaw-dropping documentary Fit For TV: The Reality Of The Biggest Loser and crude canine tale Fixed should be at the top of your streaming list.

If you’re after a swoon-worthy romcom, look no further than the screen adaptation of Julia Whelan’s international bestselling novel. US student Anna (Sophia Carson, The Life List) arrives at the University of Oxford to fulfil a childhood dream, and her world is soon turned upside down when she meets dashing local Jamie (Corey Mylchreest, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story) – life will never be quite the same again. We dare you not to get swept up in this whirlwind love story, set against a stunning backdrop of dazzling scenery in and around Oxford.

School is back in session at Nevermore Academy. Join Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) as she navigates another bone-chilling misadventure on campus with fresh woes, new foes and more dark, mysterious forces at play. Eek! Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán and Isaac Ordonez reprise their roles as the creepy and kooky Addams family and are joined by other familiar faces, while exciting newcomers include Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper and Joanna Lumley.
Love Is Blind UK

Although Love Island might nearly be over for another year, there are plenty more opportunities for a summer romance with the return of Love Is Blind UK. The unconventional dating series sees another round of hopeful singletons take to the pods to find true love. And, in case the show’s title didn’t give it away, they must do so without meeting each other until they are engaged. Tune in to see which couples will make it to the altar under the watchful eyes of hosts Matt and Emma Willis.

Award-winning film-maker Genndy Tartakovsky, whose works include Hotel Transylvania and Dexter’s Laboratory, is stepping into the world of adult animation with his outrageous canine comedy. The show follows slick mutt Bull (Adam Devine, The Righteous Gemstones) who, upon learning of his owner’s plan to neuter him, heads out for one last night of debauchery with his pooch pals. Trust us when we say that this cartoon isn’t for the faint of heart. Kathryn Hahn (Agatha All Along) and Idris Elba (Heads Of State) also feature.
Fit For TV: The Reality Of The Biggest Loser

The early 2000s were a golden age for reality TV, and US show The Biggest Loser was one of the most groundbreaking series of its time as it challenged individuals to lose the most weight for a $250,000 cash prize. Now, more than two decades since it first hit screens, the show’s producers, trainers and former contestants spill the beans on what really happened on set and whether The Biggest Loser’s approach to weight loss helped to change lives for the better or caused long-lasting damage.
Night Always Comes

BAFTA-winning director Benjamin Caron (The Crown) reunites with Vanessa Kirby –currently starring in Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps in cinemas – for a new creative collaboration in this heart-racing crime thriller. Adapted from Will Vlautin’s novel, the film follows the reckless Lynette (Kirby) over the course of one high-stakes evening as she desperately tries to raise money and secure a home for her family by any means necessary. Randall Park (The Residence), Julia Fox (Uncut Gems), Michael Kelly (House Of Cards) and Jennifer Jason Leigh (Fargo) round off the cast.
America’s Team: The Gambler And His Cowboys

While the Dallas Cowboys’ cheerleaders have won hearts around the world in their own reality series (watch seasons 1-2 of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders in Apps > Netflix now), it’s time to shine the spotlight on the man behind the Cowboys’ success. Through first-hand interviews and never-before-seen footage, this docuseries takes us back to the 1990s when mogul Jerry Jones took a chance on a down-on-their luck football team and skyrocketed them to NFL superstardom. The rest, as they say, is history.

When Dalton’s husband is kidnapped and the visiting French President (Before Sunrise’s Julie Delpy) faces a blackmail threat, the two leaders are faced with either making unimaginable decisions or working together to uncover the plot against them. Fans of Bojack Horseman, rejoice! Raphael Bob-Waksberg has a starry new animation and we can’t wait for it to premiere. At the heart of Long Story Short are the Schwooper siblings, whose story we follow through childhood, adulthood and back again as they navigate growing pains, triumphs, failures and everything in between. The voice cast includes Paul Reiser (Stranger Things), Max Greenfield (New Girl) and Lisa Edelstein (House).

How to watch Netflix with Virgin TV
If you have our 360 or Stream box, there are four ways to navigate to the Netflix app:
1. Use your voice
A. Just press and hold the voice button and say “Netflix” to open the app.
2. Via the app section
A. Press Home.
B. Go to the right and select Apps.
C. Select Netflix in the Apps screen.
3. Via channel 204 if you have our 360 box
A. Tuning to this channel automatically launches Netflix.
4. Navigating down to the Netflix icon in the homepage if you have our Stream box
To search for Netflix content on our 360 and Stream boxes, select the Search icon from any full screen menu. Enter your Search term using the on-screen keyboard. Press back and then right to highlight the “All” filter. Press OK and select Netflix. You can now view and select from the Netflix results for your search term.
