Football: Premier League

Premier League action on Sky Sports this month.

Sky Sports has a jam-packed schedule of live Premier League matches as we hit this crucial stage of the season. Trophy contenders Arsenal and Manchester City meet at the Etihad Stadium on 19 April in a match that definitely has the feel of a title decider, even if there’s plenty more football to be played. This is the type of game that Arsenal have become very good at not losing, which should be enough to hand them a significant advantage.

But while City have been hit-and-miss this season (by their high standards), they’re certainly capable of turning on the style and overwhelming the Gunners on the day. Will City’s EFL Cup final win last month have any effect on this match? It’s a game not to be missed. Both clubs are on Sky Sports multiple times before the end of the season too, so you can keep up with all the action from the title race.

The first ever Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium is also live on 19 April, and you can also keep tabs on the absorbing relegation battle with Sky Sports. Wolves and Burnley’s refusal to lie down and die has kept things interesting, while West Ham and Nottingham Forest have also been picking up crucial points, and Spurs v Leeds on 11 May could be a far more important match than anyone could have anticipated a few months ago. At the time of writing, no team is in worse form than Tottenham, who have pinned their hopes on a new manager bounce with the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi – a notoriously slow starter at many of his previous clubs.

It’s going to be a fascinating run-in with plenty of live matches, also featuring teams in contention for European places – Man Utd v Liverpool is a big one there – so keep your eye  on all the Premier League action this month. The final day is Sunday 24 May.

Football: Scottish Premiership

Just one confirmed live game from the Premiership on Sky Sports this month before the split in the league is confirmed in mid-April. Rangers will be looking to keep the pressure on at the top with a win at Falkirk, who have a great chance of being on the right side of the divide and will be determined to pick up points. The three title contenders have all been erratic at times, which should make for a thrilling, unpredictable climax to the Scottish season, and you’ll see the vital games from the final run-in on Sky Sports.

Football: Women’s Super League

Women’s Super League action on Sky Sports this month.

Thanks to breaks in the league programme for internationals and cup matches, it’s been slow progress for Man City as they edge towards their first title since 2016. Depending on results elsewhere, they could settle it with a win at Brighton in their next match on 25 April, but one thing’s for sure: if they win all three of their remaining games, including a home game against Liverpool and a final-day trip to West Ham, they’ll be champions. Arsenal are the potential fly in the ointment with their games in hand and they’ll have their tails up after knocking Chelsea out of the Champions League. But City are in the driving seat and we can’t see them relinquishing their position, with Bunny Shaw and Viv Miedema in fine goalscoring form.

Behind them, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd are vying for two European qualifying sports, which could make Chelsea v United on the final day a real crunch match. Whatever happens, Man Utd will want to exorcise the ghosts of their final-day clash with Chelsea two years ago, when they lost 6-0 at Old Trafford. At the other end, there’s no automatic relegation thanks to the upcoming expansion, but everyone will want to avoid a potentially difficult play-off with the third-placed WLS2 team. Leicester need to improve if they’re going to swerve that tricky assignment. Sky Sports has all the big matches live.

Football: EFL Championship

Sky Sports will show every match from the Championship live on the season’s final day, Saturday 2 May – so what might be still to decide at that point? The consensus is that Coventry will have claimed the title by then, although the quality of the teams chasing Frank Lampard’s table-toppers means it might go to the wire, especially if nerves cause the Sky Blues to drop points in April. The second automatic promotion spot looks like it’s between Ipswich, Middlesbrough and Millwall: after a tricky derby on 11 April against a resurgent Norwich, Ipswich host Boro on 19 April in a match that has a very “winner takes all” feel about it.

Two of those three clubs are destined to end up in the play-offs, while the other play-off places will be contested by Hull, Southampton, Derby and, yes, Wrexham. After three promotions in a row, they couldn’t possibly do it again… could they? At the bottom, Blackburn and West Brom have pulled away from trouble and although they’re not safe yet, it looks like a battle between Oxford, Leicester and Portsmouth over the two remaining relegation places. There’s loads of Championship action live on Sky Sports as this always brilliant division hurtles to its thrilling conclusion, so do not miss it.

Football: EFL League One

EFL League One action on Sky Sports this month.

No doubt about the big story in League One this season. Lincoln City have never been in the top flight and haven’t even been in the second tier since 1961; not only that, but they were in the National League less than a decade ago. Now, though, they’re on the brink of the Championship, having been a chunky 30-1 to win the title last summer.

The first part of the season saw them tussling with the likes of Cardiff, Stevenage and Bradford at the top, but an unbeaten run stretching back to the end of November has enabled the Imps to pull away from the pack. Michael Skubala’s side secured promotion over Easter weekend and you can watch them live this month, at home to Leyton Orient and away to Doncaster and Port Vale, as they attempt to claim the title, which would be their first at this level for more than 70 years.

There’s still plenty more to be decided in League One: Cardiff look nailed on for promotion behind Lincoln but the play-off places are still very much TBC. Could the likes of Luton or Huddersfield make a late charge up the table and grab a spot? At the other end, there’s a gap to the doomed-looking bottom three of Port Vale, Northampton and Rotherham, but at least four clubs are fighting it out to avoid that final relegation place. Who will fall through the trapdoor to League Two? Follow the action on Sky Sports, including all matches live on the final day.

Football: EFL League Two

Last month we wrote about the unexpected rise of Bromley and Cambridge to be promotion contenders – and although both have seen their form drop just a little, they’re still firmly in the upper echelons of the table. Which makes their clash on 16 April, live on Sky Sports Football, one of the biggest games of the League Two season. Bromley, still unbeaten at home at the time of writing, will be aiming to go one step closer to the title; Cambridge to potentially leapfrog rivals like MK Dons and Notts County and secure a place in the automatic promotion slots.

Bromley’s Michael Cheek, who began his career with Stanway Rovers in the ninth-tier Eastern Counties League Premier Division and played his first EFL game in 2024 at the age of 32, is among the division’s top scorers and could well be a League One player next season. This is why we all love football, right? Follow all the ups and downs as we head towards the season’s climax on Sky Sports, when again, all matches are live on Saturday 2 May.

Football: EFL Trophy Final

After successive relegations, Luton fans will relish a day out at Wembley for this season’s EFL Trophy, a cup the Hatters last won in 2010 when a thrilling final against Scunthorpe ended 3-2 after extra time. This year they lost in the round of 16 but were reinstated after Swindon were found to have fielded ineligible players. Jack Wilshere’s side are not out of the League One play-off picture, so a win here could give them a boost ahead of the run-in. Stockport, for their part, were runners-up twice back in the early 1990s, but this is their first final since returning to the EFL in 2022. Catch the match live on Sky Sports Football.

Football: Bundesliga

Perennial underdogs St Pauli need all the points they can get if they’re going to stave off relegation back to the 2. Bundesliga after two seasons. Sky Sports has their home game against, ah, runaway league leaders Bayern on 11 April so tune in to see if Alexander Blessin’s side can grab a David-v-Goliath victory. After that the focus is on the battle for European qualification, with RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen and Hoffenheim all in the thick of that fight.

Hoffenheim, after a period of mid-table comfort, are eyeing their first Champions League slot since 2019. Impressive stuff for a village club (now based in the nearby town of Sinsheim, although that’s still about 40 times smaller than Munich) that only reached the top flight for the first time in 2008. Golf

Mao Saigo in action on Sky Sports this month.

It’s major time! There are two men’s and one women’s major tournaments coming up, and you can follow them all live on Sky Sports, along with the rest of the month’s golfing action. First, stick with the long-standing tradition of an April trip to Georgia to admire the beautifully maintained greens and fairways of Augusta and, of course, the beautiful golf being played on them. Last year it got extremely emotional here as Rory McIlroy claimed – after a tense play-off – the title that put him the exclusive club of career men’s Grand Slam winners. If we see anything close to that level of drama this year, it’ll be fantastic.

Then Houston is the host city for the opening women’s major of the year, the Chevron Championship. It was won unexpectedly in 2025 by Japan’s Mao Saigo, who scored a birdie on the 18th to triumph in a five-way play-off and claim her first major title. The in-form likes of Kim Hyo-joo, Nelly Korda and world number one Jeeno Thitikul will be keen to add this one to their collection. In mid-May, the top men’s players will be at the Aronimink club near Philadelphia for the PGA Championship. Winning this one was part of Scottie Scheffler’s excellent 2025 season, which also included victory at the Open. Could he become the first player to defend the PGA since Brooks Koepka in 2019? Tune in for superb golf all month long on Sky Sports.

Motorsport: Formula One

Formula One action on Sky Sports this month.

The signs were promising for Mercedes ahead of the 2026 season, but surely not even they would have expected to be this far ahead after just three Grands Prix. George Russell and Kimi Antonelli have dominated, claiming five podium places between them, and with a win in Shanghai the 19-year-old Antonelli became the youngest driver ever to lead the F1 drivers’ championship standings. The Ferraris have been impressive too, with either Charles Leclerc or Lewis Hamilton making the podium in every race, while the McLarens – so powerful in the past few years, especially last year – have been beset by reliability issues.

There’s a bit of a gap until the Miami GP on the first weekend of May (following the cancellation of the Saudi and Bahrain events), and McLaren will hope the respite gives them the opportunity to work on those problems. If they can solve them, we’re looking at an absolute humdinger of a battle which is likely to go all the way to the wire this season. Don’t miss a moment with full race coverage live on Sky Sports.

Motorsport: IndyCar Series

After getting a DNF in Phoenix and being pipped to the post in Arlington, defending IndyCar champ Álex Palou took decisive control of the Children’s of Alabama Grand Prix in Birmingham. The Spanish driver was fastest in practice, qualified in pole and led for 79 of the 90 laps, roaring to a well-deserved victory – the third of his career at Barber Motorsports Park. However, Kyle Kirkwood managed to stay ahead of Palou in the drivers’ championship with another solid performance in his Andretti car, finishing in the top five once again to hang on to top spot. With Palou in ominous form, though, how long can he stay there? The drivers are in California this month before heading to Indiana for two big events in the IndyCar calendar: the Indianapolis Grand Prix and then, on 24 May, the Indy 500. Watch the races live on Sky Sports.

Rugby League: Super League

Since their shock opening-day win over holders Hull Kingston Rovers, it’s been a tough introduction to the Super League for promoted York Knights, who conceded 46 points to Leeds before succumbing to successive defeats against Warrington, Wigan and Wakefield. Of their fellow newcomers, Toulouse are also finding victories hard to come by, but Bradford had got themselves into the top six by the end of March thanks to their excellent home form, with three wins out of three at the Odsal Stadium.

Wigan lead the way with Warrington hot on their heels, despite playing a game fewer thanks to having their match against Hull KR rearranged because of the World Club Challenge. The Warriors saw history made in their match against Huddersfield last month, when Tara Jones became the first woman ever to officiate a men’s Super League match. Look out for more huge moments this season on Sky Sports, which – as you probably know, but no harm repeating it – has every single Super League game live.

Rugby League: Women’s Super League

Women’s Super League action on Sky Sports this month.

After Wigan Warriors completed a superb treble (Super League Grand Final, League Leaders’ Shield and Challenge Cup) last year, they kick off the new season against Leeds at the refurbished Edge Hall Road Community Stadium – a venue dedicated to women’s sports and health. It was the first time they’d claimed the Super League trophy since 2018 and in this hotbed of rugby league, they’ll be keen to defend the title in 2026. The competition has a slightly different format this year, splitting into top and bottom four after a full home-and-away set of fixtures for an extended play-off round, after which the leaders will bag a place in the Grand Final and the second- and third-placed teams will play off to earn the right to face them. Expect both these strong teams to feature, and look out for more Women’s Super League games on Sky Sports.

Rugby League: NRL Men

The NRL’s only non-Australian team, New Zealand Warriors, joined the league in 1995 (when it was still known as the Australian Rugby League) but they have little glory to show for their three decades. There was a minor premiership in 2002, when they unexpectedly finished top of the ladder thanks to a points deduction for the Bulldogs, but they couldn’t get past the Roosters in the Grand Final and it’s been a similar story ever since. This season, though, they got off to an excellent start with wins over Sydney, Canberra and Newcastle, with all-star performances from halfback Tanah Boyd including plenty of points from the boot.

With former Warriors legend Stacey Jones on the coaching staff, they could be set for a great season – although they, like everyone else, will be primarily focused on finding a way to stop Penrith after the Panthers surged to top spot in the early stages. Watch the Warriors away to the Storm and at home to the Dolphins this month on Sky Sports, along with lots more NRL matches.

Rugby Union: Super Rugby Pacific

New Zealand fans will tell you normal service has been resumed in Super Rugby Pacific, with the upstart Brumbies knocked off top spot and now trailing behind the Hurricanes and Blues, as the NZ teams re-assert their dominance in this competition. However, the Brumbies are still contenders, while the Reds bounced back from first-round defeat to score four successive victories and hoist themselves up the ladder. The Queenslanders are low-scoring, but their excellent defence helped them to wins over the Highlanders, Brumbies, Waratahs and Drua.

They still have serious tests ahead, starting with a visit from defending champions the Crusaders on 11 April, before they travel to Christchurch on the Super Weekend to face the Blues. With five matches at the One NZ Stadium, that will be a real treat for local fans and you can watch it all as part of Sky Sports’ extensive coverage.

Cricket: Indian Premier League

Cricket action on Sky Sports this month.

Sunrisers Hyderabad set a decent target of 202 for defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru to chase in the opening game of the new IPL season, with Ishan Kishan smashing 80 off 38 balls. And RCB showed they are not here to play around by cruising to victory with more than four overs to spare. Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli inflicted the damage on Sunrisers’ attack, Padikkal clubbing 11 boundaries including 11 sixes from 26 balls on his way to 61. They’ve set the standard that everyone else has to match.

Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings all began with a win too, with the Rajasthan bowlers – including Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger – looking particularly intimidating as they restricted Chennai Super Kings to 127. Keep up with all the action on Sky Sports, which has every single match live all the way to the final on 31 May.

Boxing

Sky Sports is the new home of MVPW boxing – the promotion co-founded by internet superstar and boxer Jake Paul – on British TV, which kicked off with an epic night of title fights on Easter Sunday featuring some of the world’s very best female boxers. So look out for plenty more top women’s boxing from the UK, Ireland and the US on Sky Sports: this month you can see unified super featherweight champ Alycia Baumgardner take to the ring at Madison Square Garden to face a challenge from South Korea’s Bo Mi Re Shin. On the undercard, US fighter Shadasia Green will put her IBF and WBO super middleweight belts on the line against New Zealand’s Lani Daniels.

Darts: Premier League

The 2026 Premier League has been a wild ride so far. Former champ Michael van Gerwen and debutant Gian van Veen surged to the top in the early weeks, while defending champ Luke Humphries toiled and even world champ and bona fide darting icon Luke Littler couldn’t make his mark. But since Littler’s first win of the season in Cardiff, he’s been flying, following up with dominant displays in Dublin and Berlin that took him to the top of the table. Van Veen reached three of the first four finals, but slipped out of the play-off places after four consecutive first-round exits.

It’s tight enough that a couple of good nights for any player would put them in the picture to qualify for the final on 28 May. But now that Littler has found his feet in this year’s competition, it’d be a brave fan who would bet against him reaching The O2. Tune in for top-quality darts every Thursday on Sky Sports at venues in England, Scotland and the Netherlands, starting at the Brighton Centre.

Tennis

Tennis action on Sky Sports this month.

There’s no doubt who the stars of the hard-court season were. Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka both claimed the much-coveted double of Indian Wells Open and Miami Open singles titles. But things may change a little as the WTA and ATP tours move on to clay. Casper Ruud won eight tour titles across 2021 and 2022 and reached three Grand Slam finals between May 2022 and May 2023, but his form and ranking had drifted just a little. That was until last year’s Madrid Open, where he was seeded 14 but beat Taylor Fritz, Lorenzo Musetti and Jack Draper to claim his first ATP 1000 trophy.

For a master of clay this period of the year is crucial: can he play himself into top form ahead of the big one at Roland-Garros? Sabalenka, meanwhile, will be gunning to improve on this surface after losing to Coco Gauff in Paris last year. Madrid and Rome may be the perfect stage to do that. Follow the tennis action on Sky Sports this month.

Basketball: NBA

The NBA play-offs are almost upon us, and in the run-up to the first postseason games on 18 April you can see some crucial match-ups on Sky Sports. The Celtics, Rockets and Pistons have already qualified, but the Hornets, Suns and Bucks are still battling for the final slots at the time of writing. Charlotte, who have been part of the NBA now for 38 years, are the only team never to win a play-off series and one of only two never to reach the finals. But this has been one of the better seasons in their history, and with two players among the leading three-point scorers in the league – LaMelo Ball and Kon Knueppel – they can always come up with the big plays when needed. Could they make it a real red-letter year by reaching the play-offs and making an impact when they’re there? Keep watching Sky Sports to find out.

Netball: Super League

Loughborough Lightning set the pace at the start of this season with five straight wins against the Dragons, Rhinos, Panthers and both London teams, and were particularly impressive in a crushing 70-43 victory at Leeds’s Canon Medical Arena. Trinidadian shooter Samantha Wallace-Joseph bagged 29 goals in that one – and the Lightning actually had a lower shooting accuracy than the Rhinos, demonstrating how dominant they were. Can anyone stop them? Nottingham Forest have the dubious privilege of attempting it at the Motorpoint Arena on 11 April – and after a solid start, Chelsea Pitman’s Forest side have as good a chance as anyone.
