Motorsport: Formula One

Formula One’s Canadian, Austrian and British Grands Prix, live on Sky Sports this month.

The day British motor racing fans mark on their calendars at the start of each year is almost here. The British Grand Prix hits Silverstone on the first weekend of July, and as well as the staging of a venerated race fans will be able to enjoy a good old battle among the leading drivers, with the championship as close as it’s been for years. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have been separated by just a few points at the top of the leaderboard for most of the season, while Red Bull’s defending champion Max Verstappen has stayed in touch with the leaders and George Russell isn’t far behind in his Mercedes.

It’s a packed month – ahead of the British GP, there are races at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montréal and the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, so that picture could change quickly. Enjoy the live action from all these Grand Prix weekends on Sky Sports.

Cricket: Men’s Tests

England batter Ollie Pope in action. Watch England v India live on Sky Sports this month.

The big news ahead of India’s five-match Test series in England is who won’t be playing. Legendary batters and former Test captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma both announced their retirement from Test cricket earlier this year, leaving skipper Shubman Gill with some big holes to fill in his line-up. Another headache for Gill is that world-leading pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah is able to play no more than three of the five Tests thanks to fitness issues. India’s vast talent pool means they can still field a strong team, of course – and a call-up for the uncapped left-hander Sai Sudharsan is an exciting sign for their future – but they may just be missing an edge.

England captain Ben Stokes, in contrast, can call on the world’s current best Test batters in Joe Root and Harry Brook, while reports suggest that semi-mythical fast bowler Jofra Archer may even become available for selection during the series, having missed four years of Test cricket through injury.

England’s last series victory over India came in 2018, and they’ll certainly go into this series – which starts at Headingley – with confidence that they can end that dry spell and claim the newly renamed Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Don’t miss a ball with full live coverage on Sky Sports.

England v India: 1st Test
Friday 20 to Tuesday 24 June, from 10am, Sky Sports Cricket/HD (CH 514/504)

England v India: 2nd Test
Wednesday 2 to Sunday 6 July, from 10am, Sky Sports Cricket/HD (CH 514/504)

Cricket: ICC World Test Championship

The WTC is a convoluted process, but the upshot of the past two years of men’s Test cricket is that Australia and South Africa are facing each other at Lord’s this month for the title of world Test champions. Although Australia won more Tests than South Africa actually played during the qualifying period, the table is organised by percentage of available points won (12 for a win, four for a draw) and that meant the South Africans finished top.

Holders Australia are favourites, despite some difficulty with their batting order which means Marnus Labuschagne may be promoted to open alongside Usman Khawaja, a position Labuschagne has never played in Tests. But English conditions could be something of a leveller, and Proteas captain Temba Bavuma is in fine form with the bat – and he’ll know he can always throw the ball to paceman Kagiso Rabada to make something happen. It could be a close one, and every ball is live on Sky Sports.

Australia v South Africa
Wednesday 11 to Sunday 15 June, from 10am, Sky Sports Cricket/HD (CH 514/504)

Cricket: Women’s Internationals

England batter Sophia Dunkley in action. Watch England v India live on Sky Sports this month.

With successful ODI and T20 series against West Indies under their belts, England got the summer off to a great start, and India provide the next test – and undoubtedly a sterner one – for new captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and her team. The two teams will face off in five T20s and three ODIs; England are ranked second in the world in both formats, India third. The fitness of top-class spin bowler Sophie Ecclestone could be key for England: having been rested for the West Indies series, she picked up an injury playing for Lancashire, and remains a doubt.

For India, the form of batter Smriti Mandhana is crucial, and the vice-captain is fresh from an impressive 116 off 101 balls against Sri Lanka last month. There’s talent elsewhere in the India line-up, of course, but the classy opener is able to set the tone for an innings. The action begins on 28 June at Trent Bridge, live on Sky Sports.

England v India: 4th T20

Cricket: T20 Blast

Early on in the men’s T20 Blast, Northants Steelbacks made a huge statement of intent when they smashed 237 against Yorkshire. Skipper David Willey led the way with 54 off 24 balls and then three wickets as they won by 13 runs. Lancashire and Hampshire have also registered some impressive results but there’s plenty more cricket to be played, with the group stage running until 18 July.

This year, there’s also a women’s Blast running alongside the men’s for the first time: it’s a slightly more complicated format, with eight teams competing in League One and ten more in a second tier split into geographical groups, but we’re sure it’ll all work out in the end. Surrey were the early League One leaders, winning their first two matches.

Like the men’s, the women’s season runs until mid-July and then takes a break ahead of the knockout rounds in early September. And you can see some real legends in action, with New Zealand’s Kane Williamson joining Middlesex for the competition and Australia’s Ellyse Perry playing for Hampshire. There’s live coverage on Sky Sports of both tournaments throughout the summer.

Golf

Women’s PGA Championship 2024 winner Amy Yang. Watch the US Open, the Women’s PGA Championship and more golf live on Sky Sports this month.

It’s another double major month, after last month brought us the PGA Championship and US Women’s Open, with the top men’s players at Oakmont in Pennsylvania for the US Open and the leading women facing off in the Women’s PGA in Frisco, Texas. Although Rory McIlrory is the name on everyone’s lips after achieving a career grand slam – and he’s been runner-up in the last two US Opens – there’s no doubt his form has suffered since the Masters. Scottie Scheffler, who claimed his third major at the 2025 PGA, is probably the man to beat – although former US Open winners Jon Rahm, Matt Fitzpatrick and defending champ Bryson DeChambeau all finished in the top 10 at the PGA.

At last year’s Women’s PGA, Amy Yang emerged from the pack to win her first major on her 75th attempt and shot 20 places up the world rankings into the top five – much as Maja Stark did with her recent win at the US Women’s Open, which took her from 33rd to sixth. In golf there’s always a chance someone can have a great week, so the favourites – Nelly Korda, Jeeno Thitikul and Lydia Ko – will need to play at the top of their game.

As well as the majors there’s top-level golf action every week from the men’s and women’s PGA and European tours on Sky Sports.

Darts: PDC World Cup Of Darts

Peter Wright of Scotland. Watch the PDC World Cup of Darts live on Sky Sports this month.

After an epic Premier League campaign that culminated in Luke Humphries triumphing over Luke Littler in a memorable final at The O2, the two are teaming up to represent England in the World Cup this month, live on Sky Sports. That pairing probably has some opponents wondering if it’s worth their while to travel to Frankfurt for the competition. Individually their prowess is astonishing; together, there may be no stopping them.

But not all the teams will be intimidated. Gerwyn Price, for example, didn’t let the Lukes have it all their own way in the Premier League, winning three nights and defying his ranking to make the semi-finals. He and Jonny Clayton won this competition for Wales in 2020 and 2023, and they’ll be representing their country again in 2025. And in the Scotland pair of Gary Anderson and Peter Wright, the English team will face another set of wily and experienced campaigners. Anderson and Wright have played seven World Cups together and reached four finals, winning in 2019. Don’t count them out.

The Australian duo of Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock, unseeded despite winning the trophy as recently as 2022, are also dangerous dark horses. It’s going to be a cracking tournament over four nights in the Eissporthalle.

Rugby League: Super League

Wakefield Trinity v Leigh Leopards. Watch the Super League live on Sky Sports this month.

While Hull KR are perhaps surprise table-toppers in this season’s Super League, they have been improving over the past few years and were predicted to do well this season. Leigh Leopards and Wakefield Trinity, however, are defying expectations with their mid-table positions – Wakefield in particular, having just been promoted from the Championship, were forecast to struggle. But both have been achieving impressive results, such as Leigh’s hard-fought 18-14 win over Warrington, and Trinity’s relentless 72-10 victory against Salford.

The Leopards’ form has slipped a little recently – possibly distracted by their run to the Challenge Cup semi-finals – but they’re still well in the play-off picture. When the two met earlier in the season, Wakefield were convincing 40-14 winners at Leigh Sports Village. Find out what will happen when the Leopards visit the DIY Kitchens Stadium on 15 June – and in every other Super League match, which are all available live with Sky Sports+.

Rugby League: NRL Men’s

The NRL has reached the halfway point and there’s still all to play for: with just two points for a win, even those teams near the foot of the ladder are still within reach of the top eight and a finals place. That will be music to the ears of fans of Penrith Panthers, the defending premiers who’ve bounced back somewhat from their dreadful start with wins over the Roosters, Broncos and Eels. The Bulldogs and the Storm are leading the way, though, and you can see both in action against the Rabbitohs on Sky Sports this month, with three live games from this top-class league every weekend.

After topping the Super Rugby table with 11 wins from 14 matches and a whopping +231 points difference, the Chiefs somehow managed to lose their qualifying final to the Blues despite home advantage, going down 20-19 at the FMG Stadium in Hamilton. However, the new structure of this year’s finals – with six teams instead of eight entering – meant that the highest-ranked loser progressed to the semi-finals, which gave the Chiefs a reprieve.

They now host the Brumbies, while their conquerors must travel to Christchurch to face the season’s other outstanding team. The Crusaders – the most successful team in the competition’s history – must now fancy their chances of reclaiming the title they last won in 2023, although it’s not going to be easy against fired-up opponents.

Netball: Super League

London Mavericks v Manchester Thunder. Watch the Netball Super League live on Sky Sports this month.

The NSL season is ramping up to a climax this month and although London Pulse have been the standout team, topping the table since the early stages, they’re not miles ahead of their closest rivals. Loughborough have stayed right behind them and could even overtake them in the final round of the season, although that requires the Pulse to slip up at Cardiff.

Arguably the biggest match, though, is between London Mavericks and Manchester Thunder, which could decide third place and therefore who gets home advantage in the semi-final, which is likely to be a rematch between the same opponents. The play-offs start a week after the regular season ends, with the Grand Final on 6 July.

Motorsport: IndyCar

Spain’s Álex Palou finally got the Indy 500 victory he’d been yearning for (helped by a qualifying penalty for two-time winner Josef Newgarden) and then promptly crashed out on lap 72 of the next race in Detroit, as Kyle Kirkwood snatched only his fourth ever race win in the series. Palou is still out in front in the championship standings but he looks a little more vulnerable now, and second-placed Pato O’Ward will be gunning for his top spot as the season moves on to Madison, Illinois for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 and then to Lexington, Ohio.
