In rugby league, the biggest Super League season ever starts this month and you don’t have to miss a match with Sky Sports’ comprehensive coverage, while in the southern hemisphere the men’s NRL is back for a new campaign too. There’s also a return for the Netball Super League as London Pulse set out to defend their title, and in motorsport, March brings the start of a new F1 season. And of course there’s masses of live football as well: Arsenal and Man City are involved in crunch matches at the top of the Premier League but there are huge clashes elsewhere, like Rangers v Hearts in the Scottish Premiership and Coventry v Middlesbrough in the Championship.
All this plus cricket’s T20 World Cup, golf, tennis, darts and more. Read on for your comprehensive guide to the best of the sporting action in the coming month.

It’s a crucial month for favourites Arsenal as they attempt to secure the Premier League title for the first time since 2004. First up it’s a trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where their local rivals inadvertently did them a big favour by coming from two down to draw against Man City at the start of February. Given the two sides’ form, and the fact Spurs are stymied by a horrendous injury list and Sergio Romero’s suspension, you’d expect a comfortable Arsenal win but… well, it’s a derby, and derbies are different.
Then at the start of March the leaders host Chelsea, who are arguably the most unpredictable team in the league currently but have put together an impressive run of wins under Liam Rosenior. Cole Palmer is supposedly short of fitness and form, but he’s averaging a goal every 130 minutes, so woe betide any opponent when he’s actually fit and firing. The Gunners will need to keep a close eye on the England man.
Man City, meanwhile, renewed their impetus with an exhilarating late come-from-behind win at Anfield and this month they’re at in-form Leeds, live on Sky Sports, with lots more Premier League action besides, from both ends of the table.

We’ve got a genuine three-team title race in this season’s Premiership, and although Hearts are still maintaining their spot at the top at the time of writing, there’s no doubt Rangers are the form team. They’ve lost just once in the league (to Hearts) since appointing Danny Röhl in October, and they’re closing in on the Edinburgh club – whose fans may be looking nervously at a schedule which shows them visiting Ibrox on 15 February, live on Sky Sports.
In fact, Rangers are in action on Sky Sports multiple times this month, including in the Premiership season’s third Old Firm match on 1 March. And Celtic certainly aren’t out of it yet, especially if they can win that game, and they also face Kilmarnock live on Sky Sports ahead of the Rangers-Hearts clash.

Manchester City’s run of consecutive WSL victories came to an end against Arsenal, but they have the chance to stretch their lead at the top to 11 points when they host bottom club Leicester in a Friday evening match. With Bunny Shaw, Vivianne Miedema and Kerolin all among the league’s top scorers, you have to fear for Leicester’s defence.
It’s now local rivals Man Utd who lead the chasing pack after Chelsea’s erratic form saw them slip to third; both are also at home this weekend, facing Liverpool and London City respectively. With Chelsea just a point ahead of Arsenal, who have a game in hand, they’ll need to find some form if they want to avoid the unthinkable and miss out on European football.

Football: EFL Championship
Around Christmas time the talk was that Coventry had the Championship title pretty much sewn up. A 10-point lead? Surely no-one could catch them?! Fans know how ridiculous that is – and sure enough, on 9 February, Middlesbrough went above the Sky Blues with a win over Sheffield United. Coventry are in the worst form of all the teams in the top six at the time of writing, particularly in away matches. So a home game against Middlesbrough couldn’t come at a more critical time.
Where City’s attacking players like Haji Wright and Ellis Simms were free-scoring earlier in the season, the goals have dried up, underlined by a toothless 0-0 draw against 10-man Oxford. Meanwhile, Boro’s progress since a defeat on New Year’s Day has been excellent, especially when they ruthlessly demolished Preston 4-0. After a slow start at the club, Morgan Whittaker is now among the division’s top scorers and has good numbers for assists too, as does midfielder Hayden Hackney, widely considered the Championship’s best player this term.
Can Frank Lampard galvanise his malfunctioning team for this vital clash at the CBS Arena? If they’re not to slip out of automatic promotion contention, a win is a must. Catch the game live on Sky Sports Football, along with plenty more action from this brilliant league in the month ahead.

Plymouth and Cardiff were both in the Championship last season and had a similarly dismal time, ending up in the division’s bottom two places. Since then, though, the two clubs’ fortunes could hardly be more different. Following the shrewd appointment of former Man City academy coach Brian Barry-Murphy as their manager, Cardiff have blazed through League One and remained in top spot since mid-November.
Along the way they thrashed Plymouth 4-0, which pretty much summed up Argyle’s haplessness in the first half of the season. But slowly, slowly, coach Tom Cleverley has managed to turn things around, pulling clear of the bottom three with a decent run of results in January. If they can get something from their home game against the leaders, live on Sky Sports on 21 February, that’ll be another great boost for the Devonians. Not too many people were talking about Cambridge as promotion contenders at the start of the season. Actually, no one was talking about them as late as December, when they appeared to be mired in mid-table – not the worst thing in the world for a team who’d spent the previous three seasons in League One relegation battles. But a seven-game unbeaten run that included six consecutive wins pushed them right into the thick of the promotion race, with key goals from striker Ben Knight (who spent last season in Spain with Real Murcia). In such a tough league, it’s not easy to stay in that leading pack, but the U’s have momentum. They face MK Dons on the final day of February, live on Sky Sports.

It’s Der Klassiker time, and if Borussia Dortmund are going to do anything about Bayern’s seemingly inexorable march towards the Bundesliga title, it’s now or never. The Münchners were basically all-powerful in the first half of the season, racing into a commanding lead at the top (with a frankly ridiculous goal difference), and they returned from the winter break with an 8-1 defeat of Wolfsburg.
But since then Bayern’s aura of invincibility has slipped. A shock home defeat to Augsburg was followed by a 2-2 draw at Hamburg, and Arsenal dispatched them fairly breezily in the Champions League. If there’s ever a good time to play them, this could be it. With the gap to Dortmund in second at six points at the time of writing, nothing less than a win for BVB at the Westfalenstadion will do. Rugby League: Super League
A lot of sporting competitions claim to be “bigger than ever” when their new season starts but in the Super League’s case, it’s simply factual. The league has expanded from 12 to 14 teams for 2026, with York Knights, Bradford Bulls and Toulouse Olympique joining the competition as Salford Red Devils dropped into the Championship. And with every game live on Sky Sports channels and Sky Sports+, that means more rugby league action than ever before.
And that’s great news, not least because the 2025 season was a supremely unpredictable one that saw Hull Kingston Rovers claim their first title in 40 years. It’s Rovers who get the 2026 season under way at the home of one of the new teams, and we’re expecting the York Community Stadium to be packed to the rafters as they welcome the champions for the Knights’ first top-flight rugby match. Last season’s runners-up Wigan visit Castleford on the opening weekend, while the Leopards and Rhinos – both aiming to make the play-offs again – meet at Leigh Sports Village. Don’t miss a moment of the action, live on Sky Sports.

The future of this long-standing contest between the Super League and NRL champions appeared in doubt when it was cancelled in 2025, officially because of logistical difficulties, but fans need not worry – it’s back in place for 2026. Hull KR are on hosting duties, making their first appearance under the current format, while Brisbane are taking part for the first time since 2007. Expect an entertaining match that’s a fitting curtain-raiser to the new season (even if it comes after the opening Super League matches).

Rugby League: NRL Men
Penrith stormed back into contention after a dreadful first half to last season and after disposing of the Bulldogs and Warriors in the finals, faced Brisbane for a place in the Grand Final. It was an epic battle but one that the four-in-a-row premiers lost 16-14, with the Broncos progressing to the final where they triumphed over Melbourne Storm. And lucky us – the early stages of the new NRL season bring a Broncos-Panthers rematch. Both are expected to contend at the top of the ladder again and Brisbane will be boosted by the return of stand-off Ezra Mam, who missed a big chunk of last season through injury.

)
The story of the World Cup so far is the associate nations giving the bigger boys some serious scares. The USA’s attack made fairly short work of India’s much-vaunted batting line-up, and the American middle order then put together some decent stands before India eventually stopped them short; Nepal, in their first ever meeting with England, lost by just four runs after excellent work by all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee, the English blushes spared by some late-innings fireworks from Will Jacks plus a sterling final over from Sam Curran. Pakistan almost ran out of batters before overcoming the Netherlands with just three balls to spare.
It all goes to show that the more recent additions to these competitions are improving all the time – surely it won’t be long before they’re genuine challengers, making tournaments even more competitive and gripping. It’s certainly made this group stage entertaining. Perhaps an Ireland or a UAE could yet spring a real surprise? The Sky Sports coverage continues with every match live, which means three matches a day until 19 February. The Super Eight Stage, which divides the eight qualifiers into two groups, begins on 21 February and it’s all live too.

There’s a new team in F1 this season: no, it’s not APX with Brad Pitt in the driving seat, but another famous American name in the form of Cadillac. The US outfit will use Ferrari engines and have appointed Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas as its drivers, expanding the grid from 20 to 22 cars. Other familiar motoring brands appearing this season are Audi, which takes over the Sauber marque, and Ford, which is supplying engines to F1 for the first time since 2004 in partnership with the Red Bull and Racing Bulls teams.
Among the leading contenders, defending champion Lando Norris and his McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri are expected to do great things again this season, while former champ Max Verstappen – now accompanied at Red Bull by France’s Isack Hadjar – will be determined to reclaim the title. And could Ferrari have a real impact in 2026? Lewis Hamilton, now 41, will hope so. It all begins in Melbourne on 6 March, with the first Grand Prix in the early hours of 8 March, live on Sky Sports. Premier League debutant Josh Rock may be a World Cup champion and winner of five ranking PDC titles, but he found out the hard way just how tough this competition is on opening night in Newcastle, when Jonny Clayton blew him away 6-2 with an average of nearly 110. Clayton was then knocked out by Gian van Veen, who subsequently lost the final to Michael van Gerwen. Like we said, tough. And who does Rock get to face in the first round in Week 2? That’s right, Mighty Mike himself. It does not get any easier – and that’s the way it should be in this elite competition. Watch it every Thursday on Sky Sports.

This month’s golf action is a real global tour with Sky Sports’ cameras visiting multiple continents to catch the top players in action. The LPGA takes trips to Thailand, Singapore and China, while the European Tour stars will travel from Kenya to Johannesburg, a leg of the schedule that brought success to South African golfers Dylan Naidoo and Jacques Kruyswijk last year. The PGA Tour crosses North America, starting in Pebble Beach, California, then heading to Florida and landing in Puerto Rico, where Australia’s Karl Vilips claimed his first Tour victory in 2025.
The Ladies European Tour travels from Saudi Arabia to Australia, where the Classic is staged in the small town of Bonville, NSW. And back in the USA, the TGL continues, as some of the world’s biggest names play a specially designed indoor course in Palm Beach. Rory McIlroy played a prominent role as Boston Commons thrashed The Bay 9-1 at the end of January.

Tennis
With the year’s first grand slam tournament done and dusted, culminating in Elena Rybakina and Carlos Alcaraz lifting the singles trophies, the tours return with some superb events throughout the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. Prime among them is the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai, won in impressive fashion in 2025 by 12th seed Mirra Andreeva after knocking out Iga Świątek and Rybakina. She’s moved up to seventh in the seeding this time, but she’ll need to pull out all the stops to repeat her success given some of her rivals’ form.
In the same week Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic and more top male stars will battle it out in Qatar. Catch the action on Sky Sports Tennis and Sky Sports+.

Basketball: NBA
The All-Star Game gets this month’s NBA coverage off to a flying start, with the crème de la crème of the league coming together to entertain fans at the Clippers’ Intuit Arena. But then it’s back to business, with the live games coming thick and fast as the rival teams strive to gain an advantage in the race for the play-offs. Oklahoma City Thunder may not have been as dominant as they threatened to be, but they’re still leading the way in the Western Conference – check out the reigning champs’ form when they host the Cavaliers and Nuggets and visit the Mavericks.
Things are tighter in the Eastern Conference, although Detroit have opened up a gap to their nearest rivals. You can see the Pistons’ Jalen Duran, Cade Cunningham and co in home games against San Antonio and Brooklyn this month.
