Football: Premier League

Everton will play their final game at Goodison Park live on TNT Sports this month.

It’s highly unlikely that there will be a dry eye in the house – at least among the blue-clad home fans – when Everton’s take to the pitch for their final game at Goodison Park. The Toffees have been playing at this venerable stadium since 1892, although most supporters reluctantly admit the need for a new, bigger ground in the 21st century, they will also miss the tradition and incredible atmosphere of Goodison. With relegated Southampton as the opposition, Everton fans will expect the team to go out on a high (although the club has announced that Goodison will now be the full-time home ground for the women’s team). Don’t miss what’s sure to be an emotional occasion on TNT Sports.

That game is on the penultimate weekend of the season, and TNT Sports has live action from the final day, when the Premier League placings, prize money and European qualification will be decided. Tune in on Sunday 25 May to see the end of a superb season.

Football: UEFA Champions League

There may not be a team from these shores in this year’s UEFA Champions League final, but it’s an absolutely mouthwatering prospect all the same. English fans will know all about Paris St-Germain, who beat Man City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal on their way to the final: under coach Luis Enrique, they’ve transformed themselves from a chaotic side overloaded with superstars to a well-oiled machine of a team who can defend heroically and attack with devastating power.

From the calm assurance of Marquinhos at the back to the exciting talent of Ousmane Dembélé up front, via the superb midfield trio of Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz and João Gomes, PSG are a magnificent outfit who are probably favourites to win what would be their first ever Champions League. But don’t rule out their opponents, who came through a scintillating semi-final against a brilliant Barcelona, winning 7-6 on aggregate to reach the final.

It’s Inter’s second final in three years, and coach Simone Inzaghi has blended youth and experience to create a classic Italian team who are strong and wily in defence and endlessly energetic in midfield. Striker and captain Lautaro Martínez has been among the best forwards in Europe this season, while Nicolò Barella and Davide Frattesi are two of Italy’s most talented midfielders, and Dutch international Denzel Dumfries is tireless at wing-back.

Fun facts: This is the first final since 2004 to feature no team from England, Spain or Germany. And the last team not from England, Spain or Munich to win the Champions League was… Inter, when they claimed the trophy in 2010.

Final: Paris Saint-Germain v Internazionale
Saturday 31 May, 6pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521)

Football: UEFA Europa League

It’s been a real rollercoaster of a season for both Man Utd and Tottenham fans. There’s no denying that their Premier League results have been disappointing, but they’ve progressed through the league and knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League with few problems, and they stand on the verge of a major European trophy. This all-English final – the sixth time that’s happened – in Bilbao could be a real cracker.

Tottenham have pacy and skilful forwards like Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Dejan Kulusevski, as well as flying full-backs Pedro Porro, Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence, creating a fast-moving attacking unit. United’s strength is in midfield, with Casemiro’s form resurgent and Bruno Fernandes, who’s excelled this season, even when his team struggled, pulling the strings. Alejandro Garnacho often adds a touch of the spectacular.

All in all, it’s an exciting prospect – and with the added incentive of Champions League qualification for the winners, both teams are sure to go all-out to win.

Final: Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United
Wednesday 21 May, 6pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521)

Football: UEFA Conference League

Chelsea were destined for the UEFA Conference League final from the start. Their progress through the league stage was serene to say the least (six games, six wins, 26 goals) and they haven’t been behind for a single minute through the knockout rounds, culminating in a 5-1 stroll against Djurgården in the semis. Forwards Christopher Nkunku and Marc Guiu have been free-scoring in this competition, nabbing 13 goals between them, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall commanding in midfield and Benoît Badiashile impressive at the back.

Their opponents Real Betis haven’t been as dominant but their form has improved hugely in the second half of the season, with a run of victories pushing them up the league table in Spain and some excellent results in the Conference League too, including a semi-final victory over a strong Fiorentina side. Man Utd loanee Antony has put in a string of player-of-the-match performances since his arrival in January, while other players familiar to Premier League fans are ex-Arsenal defender Héctor Bellerín, former Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso and erstwhile West Ham and Liverpool keeper Adrián.

You’d expect Chelsea, with stars like Cole Palmer, to have too much for their Spanish opponents – but Betis have plenty of talent and will arrive at Wrocław’s Miejski Stadium with confidence.

Final: Real Betis v Chelsea
Wednesday 28 May, 6.30pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521)

Football: UEFA Women’s Champions League

Katie McCabe of Arsenal, who take on Barcelona in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final, live on TNT Sports this month.

Arsenal produced perhaps their best performance for years in the semi-final second leg in Lyon, turning around a first-leg deficit in style with a magnificent 4-1 win against talented and experienced opponents. Coach Renée Slegers got her tactics spot-on and Lyon couldn’t stop Mariona Caldentey, Alessia Russo and Caitlin Food adding to the early own goal as every Arsenal player hit their absolute top level in a victory for the ages – and now they’ve got to do it all over again.

Perhaps the only opponents more intimidating than Lyon are Barcelona, who swept imperiously past Chelsea in the semis, scoring four goals both home and away. The WSL champions simply couldn’t cope with the penetrating creativity of Aitana Bonmatí and co. But as well as talent, what they’ll bring to Lisbon’s Estádio José Alvalade is aura: three Champions Leagues in four years, four Ballons d’Or (they had all the top three players in last year’s list), nine Liga F titles… You have to beat their reputation before you can beat the team.

But in the canny Slegers, Arsenal have a coach who’s ready to take on anyone – not to mention a brilliant squad packed with internationals. Don’t miss the final on TNT Sports.

Final: Arsenal v Barcelona
Saturday 24 May, 4pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521)

Football: Serie A

Despite their heroics to reach the Champions League final, Inter’s domestic form slipped at a vital part of the season as they lost consecutive matches to Bologna and Roma, handing the initiative in the title race to Napoli – for whom Scotland and former Man Utd midfielder Scott McTominay has been in superb form. But while Antonio Conte’s team are still unbeaten since the end of February, a home draw against Genoa means that the title race is still alive with two games to go. Napoli face mid-table Parma and Cagliari, while Inter are at home to Champions League-chasing Lazio and away to Como. Never rule out a late twist… The final day is on 25 May.

Football: NWSL

Even at this stage of the season, after only eight rounds, Orlando Pride’s home match against Kansas City Current feels like a crunch game. The Current started like a train, winning five on the spin, but then lost to North Carolina and Seattle; meanwhile defending champs Orlando have made steadier work of their schedule but are still just two points behind KC ahead of their clash at the Inter&Co Stadium.

Both teams feature prolific African strikers – KC have Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga, Orlando have Zambia’s Barbra Banda – but the Current’s Brazil international Debinha, who’s already weighed in with three goals from midfield, could be the key player in this clash, which you can stay up late for on 16 May (it’s not a school night!). There’s more NWSL action on TNT Sports this month, with two games from every round of fixtures.

Football: Première Ligue

It’s true but just a little misleading to say that between them Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain have won every French women’s football championship since 2007. Of those 18 titles, PSG have a grand total of one. But that does mean they’re the only team to deny Lyon in that period. They may not have the pedigree of the serial champions but they’ve got talent, including France internationals Grace Geyoro, Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Griedge Mbock Bathy, Dutch star Lieke Martens and England keeper Mary Earps. They’re an excellent side who lost just two games all season… to Lyon, of course, but that will make them extra determined to overcome their old rivals and claim the Première Ligue title. The final is live on TNT Sports.

Final: Lyon v Paris Saint-Germain
Friday 16 May, 8pm, TNT Sports 2 HD (CH 522)

Football: A-League Men

Auckland finished the regular season five points clear at the top of the A-League ladder, and Melbourne City emerged from the pack below them to qualify directly for the semi-finals. Neither team did it the swashbuckling, free-scoring way – while five A-League sides notched 50 or more goals over the 26-game season, they weren’t among them – but they had by far the meanest defences, and Auckland keeper Alex Paulsen kept an impressive 12 clean sheets. (He’s on loan from Bournemouth of the Premier League; the clubs share an owner.)

But those defences will be tested in the semi-finals: Western United’s Noah Botic and Hiroshi Ibusuki, in particularly, are a deadly combination. Irresistible forces, immovable objects and all that. Whoever reaches the Grand Final, it’ll be an epic contest, live on TNT Sports.

Football: A-League Women

Melbourne Victory celebrate reaching the A-League Women Grand Final, which is live on TNT Sports this month.

After going through the season unbeaten, Melbourne City appeared to be a shoo-in for the final where they’d be strongly favoured to beat whichever team they faced. But they reckoned without Central Coast’s tenacious midfielder Isabel Gomez. With their semi-final locked at 2-2 and second-leg extra-time almost up, Gomez latched on to a through ball and lobbed Malena Mieres in the City goal to register a last-gasp winner. The Mariners’ celebrations were suitably wild.

In the Grand Final they’ll face another Melbourne team, after the Victory beat Adelaide United in the other semi: following a 2-2 draw, second-leg goals from Rachel Lowe and Sara D’Appolonia took them through 5-3 on aggregate. While the Victory have been to four Grand Finals, winning three, this will be a first for Central Coast. The match will be staged at Melbourne’s AAMI Park, making it a tough one for the Mariners – find out if they can win their first championship on 18 May on TNT Sports.

Grand Final: Central Coast Mariners v Melbourne Victory

Rugby Union: Premiership

Bath sealed top spot in the Premiership with three games to spare thanks to a 55-19 trouncing of Newcastle, giving them home advantage in the semi-finals. That may explain their defeat to Bristol in their next game, but they’ll want to make sure they don’t take their foot off the pedal and lose form before the play-offs. They face two tough final games against Leicester and Saracens.

With the final two play-off places a straight fight between Sarries, Sale and Bristol, the Friday night clash between the Sharks and Bears could be crucial. Stay with TNT Sports for live action every step of the way to the Grand Final, which is at Twickenham on 14 June.

Tennis: Roland-Garros

Iga Świątek of Poland defends her French Open title at Roland-Garros, live on TNT Sports this month.

In the 2025 French Open at Roland-Garros, the men’s singles are refreshingly unpredictable. Carlos Alcaraz is the defending champion and probably the world’s best natural clay-court player, but he’s struggling with injury, having pulled out of the Madrid Open. World number one Jannik Sinner is just back from a suspension and it’s not clear how good his form is. Novak Djokovic is going for an incredible 25th Grand Slam singles title, but he hasn’t had a great year so far and has dropped out of the world rankings top five for the first time since 2007.

Could this leave the door open for GB’s Jack Draper? He’s playing as well as anyone right now, and comes to Paris with his confidence high. While British fans might want him to save his best for Wimbledon, there’s an opportunity to grab a slam here – he’d be just the second British man to win one in the open era.

In the women’s singles, Iga Świątek and Aryna Sabalenka have both won a batch of majors in the past few years, but there’s only one undisputed queen of Roland-Garros. Świątek has won the last three singles titles and it’s going to take an almighty effort to dethrone her. Sabalenka is rated the world’s best on clay, but don’t rule out Madison Keys following her Australian Open victory. You can enjoy loads of live coverage daily on TNT Sports.

Motorsport: MotoGP

It’s an exciting stage of the season for UK fans as the British MotoGP takes place at Silverstone and while there are no British riders or teams to cheer for, the stands will no doubt be packed with spectators eager for the action. Marc Márquez is still the hot favourite for the 2025 title, but he needs to find consistency and eliminate the results that could undermine his campaign, like 12th place in Spain. If his younger brother Álex sneaks ahead of him and wins the MotoGP crown before his older sibling, it could lead to some very awkward conversations over Christmas dinner. Follow the action from Silverstone on TNT Sports, with another race two weeks later at the MotorLand Aragón circuit in Alcañiz, near Zaragoza.

The World Rally Championship, live on TNT Sports this month.

Third place in the Canary Islands kept British pair Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin top of the World Rally Championship standings, more than 40 points ahead of their nearest challengers, the Finnish team of Kalle Rovanperä and Jonne Halttunen. Now the drivers and co-drivers head into seven consecutive gravel-surface rallies, starting in Matosinhos in northern Portugal and continuing in Sardinia. Follow all the action on TNT Sports.

In Supercars, Kiwi driver Matthew Payne thrust himself into championship contention by winning two of the three races at the Taupō Super 440, but he’ll need to maintain that kind of form to catch Will Brown and Cam Waters. Motorsport: Formula E Championship

There’s only one driver who’s won more than a single Formula E race this season and that’s Britain’s Oliver Rowland, with race victories in Mexico City, Jeddah and Monaco that have seen him streak ahead in the drivers’ championship. It’s an impressive display of racing skill considering he hasn’t qualified on pole once. With the final round of the season in London, Rowland will be keen to keep taking those chequered flags and claim the glory in his home country come July – and at least one race win in Tokyo’s pair of ePrix races this month will help him on his way.

Cycling

The Tour of Burgos, live on TNT Sports this month.

Britain’s Adam Yates, riding for Team Emirates, is among the favourites to win the 2025 Giro D’Italia alongside team-mate Juan Ayuso of Spain – but they and the rest of the field will almost certainly have to beat Slovenia’s Primož Roglič (Team Red Bull) to claim the victory. The 2023 winner is aiming for another pink jersey and has already seen off Ayusa in a close-fought Volta a Catalunya this year. The race is under way already – the first three stages were held in Albania – with the grand finish on 1 June in Rome.

Of course, many of the riders are building towards July’s Tour de France, but there’s lots of racing to come before that, including the Critérium de Dauphiné and the Tour de Suisse. The top female cyclists will also be touring Switzerland as well as Burgos in Spain, while this month also brings some thrilling mountain biking action too, and there’s extensive live coverage on TNT Sports.

Cricket: Men’s Internationals

Slowly but surely, Ireland are emerging as a force in one-day cricket: they’ve qualified for every World Cup since 2009 and they regularly beat established full-member nations in the format, having recorded wins over England, South Africa, Pakistan and New Zealand. That includes three victories over West Indies, who provide Ireland’s opposition in a three-match series this month, and on home territory Paul Stirling’s side will fancy their chances against the perennially mercurial tourists. They’re a team without stars for sure, but in these conditions they’ll offer a tough test for West Indies.

Athletics: Grand Slam Track

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, a leading contender for Racer of the Year in Grand Slam Track, live on TNT Sports this month.

Michael Johnson’s new track and field event is proving a success in its first season, and with two of the four events done, the competition is taking shape. Racers gain points in one of six categories – Short Sprints, Short Hurdles, Long Sprints, Long Hurdles, Short Distance and Long Distance Racers, in men’s and women’s racing – with the aim of being named Racer of the Year: Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (Long Hurdles), Melissa Jefferson-Wooden (Short Sprints) and Marileidy Paulino (Long Sprints) are the leading women’s contenders, while Kenny Bednarek (Short Sprints) and Alison dos Santos (Long Hurdles) lead the men’s standings with some great times.

But there’s also something called a Dominance Score to serve as a tie-breaker if needed, which shows how big you’ve been winning – and while most of the leaders’ scores are around 50, McLaughlin-Levrone’s is 81.5. The New Jersey-born hurdler has developed into a phenomenal athlete and we’ll be amazed if she doesn’t take the big prize in the inaugural Grand Slam Track.

Basketball: NBA

It’s tough at the top. After more or less cruising to the division championship and seeing off Miami in the first round of the play-offs without losing a game, the Cleveland Cavaliers lost 4-1 in their conference semi-final to the Indiana Pacers. The Oklahoma City Thunder, meanwhile, went behind twice to the Denver Nuggets but fought back to gain a narrow lead and take their series into at least a sixth game. With the Boston Celtics also under pressure against the New York Knicks, it’s possible that none of the best teams from the regular season will make the conference finals. Follow all the action on TNT Sport this month.

Basketball: WNBA

As the NBA season approaches its end, the WNBA season begins, and once again all eyes will be on Caitlin Clark as the league’s newest and, already, arguably biggest star. Clark couldn’t carry the Fever to success in her rookie season – they were knocked out in round one of the play-offs despite her best efforts – and in the first live game of this season on TNT Sports, we’ll get an idea of where their 2025 levels are when they take on the defending champions, New York Liberty.

Australian Rules Football: AFL Men’s

Anyone who’s watched Aussie Rules will know how physically demanding it is, players colliding, tackling and even occasionally scrapping all over the playing oval with no more protection than a gum shield. Which makes it all the more impressive that on 3 May, Collingwood’s Jack Crisp broke the record for consecutive appearances in the AFL (and the VFL before it) with an incredible 245 matches in a row. Sadly the Magpies couldn’t manage a win on his record-breaking day, going down to Geelong by three points, but they’re having a great season and sit just below leaders Brisbane on the ladder at the time of writing.

You can see the Melburnians against fellow corvids Adelaide Crows on 17 May on TNT Sports, and then (at a far more agreeable bounce-up time) against North Melbourne the following Saturday, with plenty more AFL matches every weekend.

Baseball: Major League Baseball

See the New York Mets in action, live on TNT Sports this month.

The Mets are two-time World Series winners, but the most recent was in 1986, and they’re very much the second baseball team in New York. That could change this year. A couple of months into the season, the Mets’ records is among the best in the National League, and they sit top of the East division. Pitchers Tylor Megill and Clay Holmes are putting up solid numbers, while first baseman Pete Alonso is well placed in the batting stats, both on-base percentage and slugging.

However, Alonso’s a way behind Aaron Judge, star hitter of the Mets’ city rivals the Yankees, who’s been topping the stats table this season with some magnificent batting. The Yankees are on a good run too, and the two meet in a Subway Series this month which should give us a clue as to which is the more serious contender in 2025. Don’t miss TNT Sports’ coverage of Major League Baseball.
