The Premier League’s 2025/26 edition is off to a flyer and TNT Sports has some cracking games this month. New Spurs boss Thomas Frank will be aiming to harness the high of last season’s Europa League triumph into the new campaign as they travel to Manchester looking for an early statement win against Man City – who will no doubt be aiming to put last season down as a Dallas-like dream sequence.
After Chelsea won the Club World Cup, can the official best team in the world make headway in their quest to become the best team in England against local rivals Fulham? Then after the international break, title contenders Arsenal host Nottingham Forest, who had a fantastic 2024/25 season – which will have raised fans’ expectations for 2025/26.

Football: UEFA Champions League
The great riches of the UEFA Champions League are tantalisingly close for the 16 teams in the play-off round, all of whom are just two legs away from that glorious (and gloriously lucrative) league stage. Rangers and Celtic are both among them, although the challenges they face could hardly be more different. Rangers have the shortest possible journey for their away leg against Club Brugge, but their opponents are experienced European campaigners and qualified for the Champions League last season. Celtic, however, must fly more than 3,500 miles to the eastern fringe of Europe to face Kairat of Almaty, Kazakhstan, who have never before reached this stage of the Champions League.
Brendan Rodgers will perhaps be more confident of progress than Russell Martin – especially after the Gers’ so-so start to the season, although their performances in European qualifiers have been impressive. But there’s a real possibility of double Scottish representation in the 36-team league stage. Other teams that catch the eye are Bodø/Glimt, the Norwegians who roared to the Europa League semi-finals last term by dispatching the likes of Olympiacos and Lazio, and Pafos of Cyprus, who could qualify in only their second ever European campaign but face a tough tie against Red Star. Follow the action live on TNT Sports.

TNT Sports is the home of the best Italian football this season. Napoli took home the Serie A crown, their fourth title, on the final game of the season – a campaign in which former Manchester United benchwarmer Scott McTominay reached such lofty heights, he’s now a Ballon d’Or nominee. Antonio Conte’s side kick off their title defence against last season’s Serie B winners Sassuolo.
Elsewhere this month, newly promoted Pisa host Roma, Udinese travel to last season’s runners-up Inter Milan and Juventus host Parma. It’s an intriguing set of games you won’t want to miss.

Kansas City Current are Current-ly (sorry!) the runaway leaders at the top of America’s National Women’s Soccer League, and you’d strongly expect the Missouri side to go into the NWSL play-offs as top seed after the regular season concludes at the start of November. But in a tight season, the remaining seven play-off spots are firmly up for grabs. Utah Royals aside, any of the teams on TNT Sports this month are in with a shot, starting with 2023’s champions Gotham FC – where the Lionesses’ Jess Carter now plays her football – against the side currently occupying the bottom of the NWSL table with just one win on the board (at the time of writing).

Football: U20 Intercontinental Cup
You’ll get the chance to do some player scouting and see the stars of the future in this showpiece match between the winners of the South American and European youth club competitions in Rio de Janeiro’s illustrious Maracanã. Brazilian side Flamengo retained the South American title and became the first club to win that competition twice. They now become the first club to take part in the Intercontinental fixture for the second time. Strangely, for a club of its stature, it’s Barcelona’s debut in this contest, despite winning the UEFA Youth League for the third time last season. Flamengo beat Olympiacos in this match last season: can their youngsters do two on the bounce?

Cricket: Men’s Internationals
)
It’s a repeat of the World Test Championship final but in one-day international form this month, as Australia look for revenge against the Proteas who beat them over five days this summer. Then England travel west to play three T20 matches at Dublin’s The Village venue, the first time they’ve played in Ireland since 2019. Paul Stirling’s side won’t be intimidated by their visitors: the last time these teams met, at the 2022 T20 World Cup, Ireland were the winners – in fact, England have never beaten Ireland in T20 (two matches, but it’s still true). After a punishing summer for some England players fitness-wise, the make-up of their squad could be unfamiliar when announced.

It’s a highly competitive tournament featuring top stars from the region (Shimron Hetmyer, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell) and beyond (Tim Seifert, Quinton de Kock, Alex Hales), so you’re bound to see some excellent cricket if you tune in. After a double round-robin stage between the six teams, the final is on 21 September.

The 2025 MotoGP season heats up this August with the thrilling Grand Prix of Hungary. With Marco Bezzecchi and Pedro Acosta hot on the Spaniard’s heels, this weekend’s qualifying sessions and the high-stakes Tissot Sprint race will set the stage for the intense battles to come. British Speedway’s 2025 season is roaring to its conclusion. Barring some very big upsets (or possibly a miracle), we have a good idea which teams will be making their way into the Premiership play-offs in September with just two rounds of races left after this one. It will unlikely include King’s Lynn Stars and Oxford Spires. But while the league table rarely lies, it doesn’t always tell the whole story: both sides have put in some strong performances this season and will be looking to end it on a high. The Spires will hope home advantage will play its part.

MMA: UFC
TNT Sports brings you all the action from Shanghai as knockout specialist Johnny Walker, known for his powerful striking, looks to climb the rankings following impressive finishes over the likes of Ryan Spann and Anthony Smith. Standing in his way is rising Chinese contender Zhang Mingyang, fresh off a stunning first-round knockout of legend Anthony Smith and with an impressive streak of first-round finishes behind him. With Zhang on home soil, this clash promises fireworks as both fighters aim to make a statement in the light heavyweight division.
In September, the UFC is in Paris for an event headlined by a middleweight bout between home favourite Nassourdine Imavov and Brazil’s Caio Borralho, then returns to the US for a “Noche UFC” special in San Antonio. The big fights that night are Diego Lopes v Jean Silva in the featherweight division, and a strawweight clash between Tatiana Suarez and Amanda Lemos.

The third of 2025’s three Classic events takes place this month, as the riders hit the roads of Spain for the Vuelta a España – although this year’s race actually starts in Turin and doesn’t hit Spanish soil till the fifth stage, with routes that also take the peloton through France and Andorra. Primož Roglič is the holder but he won’t be defending his title: he’s missing the race for the first time since 2018, and Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar will also be absent.
That’s good news for Jonas Vingegaard, who’s now the heavy favourite to claim victory in this race for the first time, although the Danish rider will face strong competition from Spain’s Juan Ayuso and Enric Mas. Also this month, there’s more action from the Mountain Bike World Series, which is in the French Alps.

Adelaide Crows were the first team to qualify for this season’s finals and look likely to finish at the top of the ladder after a campaign of tremendous consistency. Collingwood were first for a long time but suffered a blip starting in round 18, with four defeats in five games upsetting what fans had hoped would be a relentless march to the Grand Final. A cool £140,000 is up for grabs in the vibrant city of Wuhan as the World Snooker Tour returns to mainland China. Incredibly, it was the 36-year-old’s first title win in a ranking event, 17 years after first turning professional. But he’ll have to work hard on the baize against a stacked field, featuring the likes of current world number one Judd Trump (who won the inaugural edition in 2023), Kyren Wilson (beaten by Xiao last time out), Mark Williams and Mark Higgins all scheduled to participate.
