Football: Premier League

Catch Premier League action on TNT Sports this month.

This month, it’s all about the race for the Premier League’s Champions League places – confirmed in early April to be five once again, thanks to complicated coefficient things we won’t pretend to understand. Assuming Arsenal and Man City are nailed on, contenders for the other three slots are front and centre on TNT Sports. Chelsea v Man Utd is especially significant here, as a home defeat for the Blues will make it very difficult to get into Europe’s elite competition, and their form is shaky to say the least. United have appeared like magic in the upper echelon of the Prem, so can they stay there?

Earlier that day, Brentford and Fulham meet in a west London derby with Euro qualification alive for both, and Fulham could have a big impact on this race since they also face Aston Villa on 25 April. They’re as good as anyone on their day, with Harry Wilson in the form of his career, and we won’t rule out a late surge up the table for Marco Silva’s side. But Villa, after a dreadful February, have rediscovered their mojo and will be determined to consolidate their progress under Unai Emery with another crack at the Champions League. They face troubled Spurs on 2 May, while Chelsea are back on TNT Sports the following week when they visit Anfield.

Brentford v Fulham

Chelsea v Manchester United

Liverpool v Chelsea

Football: UEFA Champions League

Many of the clubs in the Champions League’s last eight have been hailed for their free-flowing attacking football – notably Bayern Munich, who are homing in on various goalscoring records thanks to the potency of their front three of Michael Olisé, Luis Díaz and Harry Kane, and Paris Saint-Germain, who are repeating their pattern from last season and coming extremely good in the knockout stages after an uncertain league phase. The outliers are Arsenal, who have played some nice stuff at times, but built their season’s success on a formidable defence. As we approach the semi-finals, we could be in “irresistable force meets immovable object” territory, and if so it’ll be fascinating to see who makes the final. Don’t miss the semis on TNT Sports.

Quarter-final 2nd Leg – Arsenal v Sporting Lisbon
Wednesday 15 April, 7pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521)

Quarter-final 2nd Leg – Bayern Munich v Real Madrid

Football: UEFA Europa League

Aston Villa were seriously impressive as they dismantled a very good Bologna side in the away leg at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, leaving them on the brink of the semis. Nottingham Forest also came away with a decent result from their first leg although it was somewhat more fortuitous, as a tragicomic own goal from Porto’s Martim Fernandes gifted them a 1-1 draw. If both English teams make it through they’ll face each other in the semi-finals, which of course will be live on TNT Sports. The final is on 20 May in Istanbul.

Quarter-final 2nd Leg – Nottingham Forest v Porto
Thursday 16 April, 7pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521)

Quarter-final 2nd Leg – Aston Villa v Bologna

Semi-finals 2nd Legs
Thursday 7 May, from 7pm, TNT Sports

Football: UEFA Conference League

It’s been an up-and-down season for Crystal Palace but there’s no doubt their quarter-final first-leg victory over Fiorentina was a huge highlight, with Jean-Philippe Mateta, Tyrick Mitchell and Ismaila Sarr all on target in a 3-0 home win. Playing away in the second leg is never easy, but given their own difficult campaign, Fiorentina may well be too distracted by gathering vital Serie A points to overcome that deficit. Shakhtar Donetsk or AZ Alkmaar await in the semis, with the Ukrainians (playing home games in Poland) also 3-0 up after the first leg. Follow the Conference League on TNT Sports.

Quarter-final 2nd Leg – Fiorentina v Crystal Palace

Football: FA Cup Semi-finals

Catch FA Cup semi-finals action on TNT Sports this month.

To the delight of many viewers, it’s been a season of FA Cup shocks (Macclesfield, Mansfield and Port Vale all beat Premier League teams), and Southampton added their name to that list in the quarter-finals when they emphatically ended Arsenal’s cup campaign. After going ahead, the Championship side conceded an equaliser that had their fans fearing the worst against the Premier League leaders, but Shea Charles delivered a late winner with a calm finish that sent St Mary’s into raptures. Up next? Well, it’s only Man City, who should hold no terrors for the Saints considering that performance against Arsenal and their brilliant league form. Their biggest problem at this point might be keeping hold of highly rated young coach Tonda Eckert.

Chelsea face Leeds in the other semi in a repeat of the notoriously uncompromising 1970 final; referee Michael Oliver reviewed the replay in 2020 and spotted 11 modern red card offences. While we’re unlikely to see any such violence, the two often produce passionately contested games – and with two such unpredictable sides and an FA Cup final place at stake, it should be a great game, live from Wembley on TNT Sports.

Manchester City v Southampton
Saturday 25 April, 4.30pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521)

Chelsea v Leeds United
Sunday 26 April, 2pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521)

Football: Women’s FA Cup Quarter-finals

It wasn’t just Arsenal’s men’s side who struggled against underdog south-coast teams in the cup quarter-finals. Fresh from knocking Chelsea out of the Champions League, Arsenal came down to Earth with a bump at Meadow Park when Brighton shocked them with a resounding 2-0 victory. Albion’s reward is a trip to the north-west to face a Liverpool side who have improved hugely since the first half of the season, although they toiled somewhat in beating WSL2 side Charlton in the previous round.

Both teams will no doubt be pleased to have avoided Chelsea and Man City and see this as a great chance to reach the final, which would be Brighton’s first appearance and Liverpool’s first for 30 years. The big hitters meet at Stamford Bridge in the other semi, where Chelsea’s 5-1 defeat to City in the WSL in February will no doubt be on the home team’s minds. Both games are live on TNT Sports.

Liverpool v Brighton & Hove Albion
Sunday 10 May, 12pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521)

Chelsea v Manchester City
Sunday 10 May, 3pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 521)

Football: Serie A

Napoli are the most likely candidates to halt Inter’s procession to the Serie A title at this stage, with half a dozen matches left. TNT Sports has their home matches against Lazio and Jamie Vardy’s Cremonese as they try to close the gap – but the scudetto is very much in Inter’s hands. Scott McTominay and co will need some big performances if they’re going to defend their championship – and whether they do or don’t, they may struggle to hold on to coach Antonio Conte, with the national team job up for grabs.

Juventus, meanwhile, are in danger of missing out on the Champions League thanks to a lack of consistency and the emergence of Como as a Serie A force. See them at home to Bologna and away to AC Milan this month on Sky Sports.

Napoli v Lazio

Football: Men’s A-League

Clayton Taylor, Lachie Rose, Xavier Bertoncello and Alex Badolato might not be big names in the world of football, but their goals have fired Newcastle to success this season. The Jets are closing in on the premiership (topping the final table) and they’re the highest scorers in the A-League thanks to coach Mark Milligan’s proactive, attacking approach. However, there’s been a recent wobble with defeats to Auckland and Macarthur, so tune in to see if they can make it over the line in their final matches against Melbourne Victory and Central Coast Mariners. And look out in particular for Rose, who’s headed to the UK when the A-League season ends, having agreed terms with Dundee United.

Auckland, Adelaide, Melbourne Victory, Melbourne City and Sydney are looking good for places in the finals, although Macarthur and Wellington aren’t out of it yet. Catch the crucial games including the start of the finals on TNT Sports.

Reigning champions Central Coast Mariners were held to 0-0 draws in both their final two regular-season games, which meant they missed qualification on goal difference as Melbourne Victory sneaked ahead of them into sixth place. Now the Victory visit the ACT for the first elimination final at Canberra’s McKellar Park, while in the other eliminator, Brisbane Roar host Adelaide United – the teams that finished fourth and fifth despite, curiously, both having negative goal difference. Brisbane’s greater firepower (37 goals in their 20 games versus Adelaide’s 24) could be the difference here.

Melbourne City and Wellington Phoenix await the winners in the next round, and both will be daunting prospects for whoever meets them – City’s Holly McNamara is by far the top scorer in the league this season, backed up by a solid defence and skilled midfield. The Grand Final is on the weekend of 16 May.

Football: US National Women’s Soccer League

Los Angeles outfit Angel City launched to great fanfare in 2022 thanks to celebrity owners that included Oscar-winning actor Natalie Portman, tennis superstar Serena Williams and US national team legends Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach. The team’s on-pitch success hasn’t quite lived up to that, with just a single play-off appearance and barely a sniff of the NWSL championship. But they’ve started this season brightly, with wins over Chicago, Houston and Bay FC, and Iceland winger Sveindís Jónsdóttir is leading the league for goal involvements at this early stage. They’ll get a stern test against second-placed Portland, though – it should be a cracking match. Chicago Stars host Boston Legacy the previous day, and look out for more NWSL matches on TNT Sports.

Angel City v Portland Thorns

Rugby Union: PREM Rugby

Catch PREM rugby action on TNT Sports this month.

There’s no doubt about the big clash in PREM Rugby in the coming month: league leaders Northampton host second-placed Bath, the defending champs, at Franklin’s Gardens on 25 April in a match-up that could have a huge say in who finishes top of the table and is seeded first for the play-offs. Saints are the only team to come away from Bath with a PREM win this season, but Bath will have their tails up after knocking them out of the European Champions Cup at the quarter-final stage.

Northampton also have a tricky trip to Exeter to deal with ahead of that clash. The Chiefs still have a chance to claim top spot and it would be greatly enhanced with a win at Sandy Park. Although the three aforementioned clubs and Leicester look like making up the top four, there’s still plenty to be decided in the PREM – including the European qualifying places, with Gloucester and Harlequins locked in an attritional battle for the final Champions Cup place. You can watch four live games from every weekend of PREM action on TNT Sports with Virgin TV.

Motorsport: MotoGP

The Aprilia team are currently basking in the warm glow of success, with a very comfortable 32-point lead in the constructors’ standings and Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin placed first and second in the riders’ championship table. Not only has Bezzecchi won all three races so far this season, he’s led every lap, and his winning streak stretches back to the final two races of 2025 too. It’s looking good for the Venetian team, not least because of their steady reliability which means they’ve largely avoided the DNFs that have been plaguing Ducati and Honda. With the Qatar MotoGP removed from the calendar for now, the next race is in Jerez, before the teams move on to Le Mans in May with all the action live on TNT Sports.

The rest of the field are going to have to step up, and soon, if they’re to have any chance of stopping Nicolò Bulega. The Italian’s dominance of the 2026 season continued in Portugal as he once more qualified on pole for both races and went on to claim both wins, and with just two rounds done he’s already 56 points ahead of his nearest rival, Spain’s Iker Lecuona. Bulega will be eyeing a record total at this rate. Next up, it’s Assen, followed by a trip to Balaton Park in Hungary. Motorsport: Rallying + Touring

A disappointing 13th place in Kenya became a disastrous 34th in Croatia for Britain’s Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin, who exited the Safari Rally on the Saturday and lost their place at the top of the drivers’ and co-drivers’ tables to Takamoto Katsuta and Aaron Johnson. The Japanese-Irish pairing claimed their maiden win in Kenya and added another in Croatia with an exemplary display of driving, avoiding the problems that afflicted to their rivals including Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe, who crashed out of the final stage. With fortunes swinging between the driving teams, it’s anyone’s title this year.

In Supercars, Walkinshaw TWG’s Ryan Wood forced himself into championship contention at Taupō with two podium finishes including a race win. But Brodie Kostecki and Broc Feeney are still leading the way as the season moves on to its final New Zealand event, which is in Christchurch. MMA: UFC

UFC 328 is a double championship bout event. The middleweight headline features undefeated champ Khamzat Chimaev against former belt holder Sean Strickland in what should be an absolutely stonking contest. Strickland shot up the list of contenders after knocking out Anthony Hernandez in February and if anyone has a hope of challenging Chimaev’s dominance of this division, it’s him. On the same card at New Jersey’s Prudential Center, flyweight champion Joshua Van makes the first defence of his belt against Tatsuro Taira.

In the build-up to that, there are plenty more intriguing UFC bouts scheduled, including an event in Perth, Australia – hometown of Jack Della Maddalena, who takes on Carlos Prates as he aims for a shot at reclaiming the welterweight championship he lost to Islam Makhachev in November. Don’t miss the UFC action on TNT Sports.

Cycling: UCI World Tour

Catch UCI World Tour action on TNT Sports this month.

It was at this stage of the 2025 men’s season that Tadej Pogačar really got going. Second in Paris-Roubaix and Amstel Gold, he then turned on the style in Belgium and added victories in La Fèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège to his Tour of Flanders triumph. Can he repeat the performance in 2025? Well, the Slovene already has the Tour of Flanders win under his belt. Britain’s Tom Pidcock, third in La Flèche last year, will be among those trying to stop him.

Dutch rider Demi Vollering was also consistent when the UCI World Tour hit Belgium at this stage in 2025, finishing second in La Flèche and third in Liège. Like Pogačar, she has won this year’s Tour of Flanders so she’s feeling right at home in Belgium (despite being Dutch – so Dutch she started out as a speed skater and also trained as a florist). A victory in Liège-Bastogne-Liège would be the third of her career.

Australian Rules Football: AFL Men

After four rounds of the AFL season Western Bulldogs were the only team with a 100% record, putting at least 90 points on the board in each of their victories. They were especially destructive at home against GWS, trouncing the hapless Giants 134-53. With a dynamic midfield featuring Ed Richards, Matt Kennedy and captain Marcus Bontempelli, they’re shaping up well for a challenge in 2026 after missing out on the finals last year. They’ve only made the finals once since their Grand Final defeat in 2021 so they’re due a solid season, which would keep their celebrity fans – including Chris and Liam Hemsworth, as well as former PM Julia Gillard – happy. It’s early in the season to be making too many bold productions of course, but on the evidence of the first few weeks, we’re expecting another superb campaign from the LA Dodgers. The time and money they’ve put into building a top-class team has paid off in spades and in Shohei Ohtani, they have a real unicorn – a player who’s both elite pitcher and elite hitter. Can anyone stop them on their way to the “three-peat”? The Yankees also made a fine start, with Max Fried impressing on the mound. Both these east and west coast titans are in action on TNT Sports this month as part of the extensive Major League Baseball coverage.

Golf: LIV Golf

With two tournament wins apiece, the Ripper GC and 4Aces GC teams have streaked away at the top of the LIV Golf league table, putting clear air between them and the chasing pack. Even when Crushers GC captain Bryson DeChambeau won in Singapore, the 4Aces team (including Duystin Jonhson and Thomas Pieters) were the best performers overall. But with points distributed to all teams this season, positions can change quickly. This month the players are in Mexico City and then Virginia for two more four-day rounds of this exciting competition, where simultaneous tee-off times around the course means there’s always key action to watch.
