Ryan Reynolds consoled by ex

Ryan Reynolds is reportedly seeking solace with an ex-girlfriend in the aftermath of his marriage split.

The 34-year-old actor - who counts singer Alanis Morissette amongst his former lovers - announced yesterday (14.12.10) his two-year marriage to Scarlett Johansson has come to an end, and has turned to an old unnamed flame for comfort, though pals insist he is not seeking romantic involvement.

A source told US Weekly magazine: 'Ryan has been reaching out to an ex the past few months. He is seeking comfort, but not in a romantic or sexual way.'

Meanwhile, Scarlett, 26, is said to have 'confided in friends' over the breakdown of her marriage, which is believed to have been the result of the couple spending so much time apart.

The insider said: 'They spent a lot of time apart when they are working. She's been unhappy for a while.'

The couple -who married just four months after getting engaged in September 2008 - released a statement confirming their separation yesterday and insisted the decision was amicable.

The statement read: 'After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage.

'We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it.'

Sources have claimed the pair split as long as six months ago with the 26-year-old actress house hunting in New York, although the couple were on friendly terms when they were seen together at New York nightclub Avenue in November.
