Katie's son won't live alone
Katie Price Katie Price's disabled son will never be able to live alone.
Harvey - the reality TV star's eight-year-old child from her relationship with soccer player Dwight Yorke - was born with septo-optic dysplasia, meaning the nerves from his eyes to his brain developed incorrectly leaving him legally blind, and although he constantly surprises Katie with his progress, she understands she will have to care for him all his life.
Katie - whose son is also autistic - said: 'He'll probably live with me for life and I'm very strong about that. It's easy for me to say because I've got the money, 'Yeah put him in a home, you deal with him, I'll see him at weekends.' I won't do that.
'Considering I never thought he would even see, he knows his alphabet, he can write his name. So to me it's fantastic. He's come on really well.
'Harvey is my son and we have good days and bad days, funny days and challenging days. Regardless of what anyone says I love him to bits and he is perfect to me. I wouldn't change him for the world.'
Katie - who has two other kids, Junior, six, and four-year-old Princess Tiaamii, from her marriage to ex-husband Peter Andre - hopes to make Harvey's life as normal as possible and even harbours the dream that one day he will be able to hold down a job he enjoys.
She explained to the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'When Harvey is older I would love him to be able to have a simple job like stacking shelves at a supermarket, there will be something he can do that is useful.'
