Jake Gyllenhaal dates Minka Kelly

Jake Gyllenhaal has been on a string of dates with Minka Kelly.

The 31-year-old actor - who initially pursued the 'Friday Night Lights' star late last year - persuaded the actress to go out with him after she split from Wilmer Valderrama even though she initially wasn't interested in him.

A source said: ''Minka wasn't into Jake when he first pursued her.

''[After she split from Wilmer] she decided to give Jake another chance.''

However, despite going out numerous times, the relationship failed to develop.

The source added to Us Weekly magazine: ''It was never serious, and it's over now.''

It was previously claimed that Minka turned down Jake's advances last year because she was ''trying to patch things up'' with Derek Jeter, after they split in August after three years together.

Jake has been single since his brief relationship with Taylor Swift ended last year but has previously declared he is confident he will meet his dream woman when the time is right, despite his hectic work commitments.

He said: ''I think everybody has the time to fall in love when they're doing anything. I think there's always some time for that. But don't just take my word for it, you should ask the presidents of countries if they have time to fall in love while they're trying to save the world.''

He has also been in long-term relationships with Kirsten Dunst and Reese Witherspoon.
