Kate Beckinsale: 'My daughter doesn't care that I make films'

Kate Beckinsale's daughter doesn't care she is a movie star.

The 'Total Recall' actress - who has 13-year-old Lily with ex-partner Michael Sheen - admits she is first-and-foremost a mother to her teenage child, who is not bothered by her exploits in Hollywood and would rather talk to her friends.

She said: ''I'm still allowed to hold her hand sometimes. Mostly she just goes, 'Oh that was great, well done' and then she goes back on Tumblr, or whatever it is that they do, and talks to her mates.

''She very much sees me as her mum and the other stuff is secondary.''

Being motherly does not come difficult to Kate - who is now in married to director Len Wiseman - as she particularly enjoys spending time baking.

She added to the Metro newspaper: ''I'm better at baking than dinner. I just like making cakes, cookies and brownies.

''I'm a bit squeamish about raw chicken. I find plunging your hand into a bird a bit difficult. I usually go, 'Len!' He's an amazing pancake and French toast type of a cook. We both specialise in carbohydrates, as it turns out.''
