Questions and Answers

Dear LJ, How do I set up my set top- is there a pdf I can download? thanks, Greig
Dear Greig, I wonder where you’re from? Although that remains a mystery, your question should be answered below. In fact, for anyone wanting to know some Virgin TV answers, or download user manuals, go here… Scroll down this page and you’ll see lots of FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) all related to Virgin TV solutions. Hopefully that will help. And, mysterious Greig, if you were asking more about installation, then go here
Dear LJ, I have a Virginmedia TV box,a skyplus box and a DVD recorder- I want to be able to watch Virgin and record sky or visa versa - is this possible ? Mark, Lincoln
Hi Mark, Wow, that’s a lot of telly – I completely approve. The other day, I said "I love telly" with such deep feeling, that my friends have started to worry about me… You don’t mention if you have a V+ box or not, so I will assume that you have a Virginmedia box. Mr Spock would tackle this logically, so I will attempt to do so as well, although it’s going to get messy. You currently have 3 playback devices in all, 2 are recording devices (Sky+, DVD Recorder), and 2 are Receiving Devices (Sky+, VirginMedia). You should be able to record on both the sky+ box and the DVD recorder independently – I’d assume you put the Virginmedia output INTO your DVD recorder to do this. Now, in order to view everything on one TV, I’d buy a Scart Switcher so you can plug all three devices into your telly, which probably only has 2 scart sockets. Put the sky and Virginmedia scarts into one switchable output, and the DVD recorder into your spare scart socket. If you want to record and playback all on one device, then you will need to connect your V box and Sky box to the back of your DVD recorder, if it accepts more than one input. I’m aware that there are probably 42 other ways to do this, and this is just one suggestion that will allow you to view everything without too much fuss. Live Long, and Prosper!
Dear LJ, I've just acquired a V+ Box and attached it to TV via HDMI lead - fine but now my sound surround doesn't output at all - swapping back to scart and it works, am I doing anything wrong? Ian, Willenhall
Dear Ian, If you go to this link here which is the V+ manual, page 19 gives you instructions on how to set up for HDMI – you may need to start with the SCART plugged in to calibrate it. You may need a separate set of audio cables for your surround sound. Keep your questions coming in, the next one will be another "quickie"! All the best, LJ p.s.
