Frank Skinner casts his wry eye over the celebrity whine list, as the catty complain-a-thon returns for yet another series.
In a nutshell
Remember when Room 101 was just one celeb mouthing off about stuff they hated? Ah, that was in the dim and distant past. These days, Room 101 is a sort of panel show, where the celebs play second fiddle to Mr Frank Skinner, who has a talent for turning petty grievances and grumblings into the stuff of comedy gold. Well, the man has been a comedian for decades, so it’s no surprise his mind is as sharp as a diamond pencil.
We have a rather tasty selection of celebs in tonight’s series opener. None other than David Tennant is in the house, and it’ll be interesting to see what makes this ordinarily affable chap tear his hair out. Spoiler: one of his gripes is his own South African accent. Sir Trevor McDonald will also be in attendance, and frankly it’s hard to imagine anything riling the nation’s favourite granddad (well, second favourite after Sir David Attenborough). Comedian Aisling Bea makes up the final third of the trio, with subjects like pigeons and sushi coming under the spotlight.
What’s the verdict?
OK, so the celebrity pet hates aren’t exactly hot button controversial issues, but this is always enjoyable to watch. And it’ll be frankly surreal seeing David Tennant bantering with Sir Trev.
