6 of James Corden’s best bits

A League Of Their Own: US Road Trip 2.0 + The Late Late Show With James Corden UK special

From Monday, 9pm, Sky 1 (CH 110) and Sky 1 HD (CH 109). Also available for 30 days in Catch Up > Channels > Sky 1

He’s the Emmy Award-winning late-night chat show host who’s used to kicking back with the likes of Madonna, Michelle Obama, Tom Hanks and Stevie Wonder. But don’t be fooled by the rocks that he’s got – he’s still Smithy from the block.

The Gavin & Stacey star may have abandoned us for his talk show across the pond, but someone’s clearly been a tad homesick, because he’s back on our screens not once, but twice this week. First up, he’s hitting the American highways again for another anything-goes adventure with messrs Redknapp, Whitehall and Flintoff for A League Of Their Own: US Road Trip 2.0. Then, for the first time in its history, The Late Late Show With James Corden is coming to London for three special episodes.

If you aren’t familiar with The Late Late Show, let’s catch you up – it’s been running since 1995, with various hosts at the helm over the years. Corden took over from Craig Ferguson in 2015, and since then he’s been rap battling with the likes of Usain Bolt, having good old car sing-alongs with everyone from Mariah Carey and Elton John to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers… and essentially just having a really nice time. Here are six of our favourite Corden moments so far.

1. When he went for a ride around the White House with Michelle Obama

What better way to spend a day than singing “Single Ladies” with the then First Lady, while driving around the White House grounds? Missy Elliot joins the party, too – a party so big it was nominated for our Virgin TV Must-See Moment Award at this year’s TV BAFTAs.

2. When he fell in love with Victoria Beckham

Fans of Kim Cattrall’s 80s flick Mannequin, get involved with the Corden-Beckham remake we’ve all been waiting for.

3. When he chatted to Ed Sheeran and Sir Ben Kingsley

Here they are, helping fly the flag for Brits abroad. Oh, wait… it’s Rupert Grint and Sir Patrick Stewart.

4. When he jammed with Stevie Wonder

Probably one of the best things to happen to anyone, ever. Corden went for a drive with Stevie Wonder, singing a whole host of hits including “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours”. Wonder even serenaded Corden’s wife. Hold on to your dream.

5. When Matt Damon acted out his film career in eight minutes

Want to be a Matt Damon completist? See all his films in less than 10 minutes, from Good Will Hunting, through all theOcean’s movies, The Martian and even Rounders.

6. When he got a bit carried away with Harry Styles

Wondering whether Styles is up to a starring role in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk? Wonder no more – watch this and be blown away by his stunning skills as a thespian.

Craving more Corden?
