The story of P T Barnum, the man behind the world-famous circus bearing his name, is being made into a film musical, one that’s set to be with us at the end of the year. Due for release in December in the US and on January 1st 2018 in the UK is The Greatest Showman, which is set to be headlined by Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron and Rebecca Ferguson.

Michael Gracey is directing the feature, which will include music from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

A first trailer for the film has just been released, along with the official synopsis for the movie. We’ll go with the trailer first…

Inspired by the ambition and imagination of P.T. Barnum, “The Greatest Showman” tells the story of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. “The Greatest Showman” is directed by exciting new filmmaker, Michael Gracey, with songs by Academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“La La Land”) and starring Academy Award nominee Hugh Jackman. Jackman is joined by Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams, Zendaya, Zac Efron and Rebecca Ferguson.
