Alan Partridge is returning to the BBCby Louisa Mellor

Radio Norfolk's finest is coming back to the Beeb for a 25th anniversary special this year...

Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival, BBC Comedy Controller Shane Allen has announced that, after straying to Sky for a period, Mr Alan Partridge will be returning to the BBC.

First up, a one-hour special to commemorate the Steve Coogan and Armando Iannucci-created character's twenty-fifth anniversary will air on BBC Two later this year, marking a quarter of a century since Partridge first broadcast on BBC Radio all the way back in 1992.

Following that will be a brand new series, due to air in 2018. More news on that as it arrives.

In the meantime, please join us in an obligatory 'aha!' and remind yourself of some of Alan's top TV moments here.
