PlayStation 3: Top 5 E3 games

Killzone 2

At the vanguard of Sony's E3 comeback (after a terrible showing last year) was the first real footage of their supposed "Halo killer". Although there's still a lot to prove with the gameplay the graphics did genuinely look almost as good as the infamous pre-rendered footage from E3 2005.

If you could argue that underneath the graphics Killzone was still a very familiar looking game, this had it all: amazing graphics with real world physics and some hugely innovative gameplay as you and three friends compete and co-operate in the wonderfully bizarre platform world.

Metal Gear Solid 4

With Final Fantasy XIII still years away this is Sony's most important third party exclusive, although it still hasn't been shown in playable form. The trailer though was predictably bombastic with some stunning visuals and over-the-top theatrics that managed the impossible: making Raiden look cool.

Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction

Although it's always been a popular franchise on the PS2 this first PS3 game sees the dynamic duo star in one of the PS3's most graphically stunning games yet, with hugely detailed levels filled to the gills with moving objects - almost all of which can be blown up spectacularly.

Heavenly Sword

This seems to be slowly decreasing in prominence the closer it creeps towards release and its appearance at E3 showed why. Although the graphics are still good, the combat so far, in what's been dubbed "Goddess of War", seems largely random and unengaging.
