Echochrome (Sony/Sony Japan Studios)
Also on: PS3

Also destined to become a PlayStation 3 download title, this was easily the most interesting new PSP game at E3, with a bizarre M. C. Escher style platform world to navigate as you spin the physically impossible backdrops around to get your little mannequin figure to safety.

Patapon (Sony)

With a similar graphical style to undeserved flop LocoRoco, this is a very different game as you control a tribe of what look like warrior eyeballs as they attack rival tribes and monsters in a cross between a real-time strategy and a rhythm action game.

WipEout Pulse (Sony/Sony Studio Liverpool)

Launch title WipEout Pure is still one of the best games on the PSP so this follow-up is extremely welcome, with 24 new tracks and 8 new teams. The most important new gameplay feature though is the "Mag strip" which lets you stick to a track and perform tricks and avoid obstacles.

God of War: Chains of Olympus (Sony/Ready At Dawn)
Also on: Wii

With developer Ready At Dawn already responsible for the excellent Daxter on PSP, this spin-off from the ultra violent, ultra surly third person actioner looks every bit as good as the original. The only problem being whether the familiar formula is now getting just that little bit old.

Star Wars: Battlefront - Renegade Squadron (LucasArts/Rebellion)

Sony seem very keen on this spin-off from the popular home console series, going as far to create a limited edition PSP for it and having Chewbacca himself introduce it. The graphics though are not impressive and the gameplay is still basically Battlefield 1942 with Star Wars figures.
