Your guide to coving

Coving changes the shape of a room and looks difficult to put in - but in reality it's very simple. Follow these guidelines for hassle-free coving...

1. Push a piece of coving into the corner and mark with a pencil where the lower edge will sit on the wall.

2. Use a spirit level to draw a straight line from this mark.

3. Take thin wire nails and hammer them half an inch into the wall along this line, every 18 inches or so.

4. Apply adhesive to the coving where it will go against ceiling and wall.

5. Rest the coving against the line, on top of the nails, and push it into the wall and ceiling. Don't push too hard as the nails may damage the coving.

6. Wipe the wall edge - this will clear excess adhesive and fill any gaps.
