We’ve changed the spark plugs / air filter / oil filter
Mechanics. In terms of how much the public trusts them, they’re up there with MPs and advertising executives. We’d like to think that the number of honest mechanics far outweighs the number of sharks, but it helps to know the classic fibs that can cost you cash.
How often do you pop the bonnet of your car and take a good look around? If you don’t know what you’re looking at, then it’s possible that a clogged air filter could go unnoticed.
Some unscrupulous mechanics will tell you that they’ve changed the plugs and filters during a routine service but leave the old ones firmly in place, knowing it’s unlikely that you’ll check.
You’ll not only be paying for parts that you haven’t received, but you also run the risk of costly repairs in the future.
