Tim Lovejoy: Soccer AM and Fifth Gear presenter

Tim Lovejoy

Fifth Gear and Soccer AM presenter Tim Lovejoy jumps into the Virgin Media hot seat to give us his take on women drivers, car obsessed footballers, air freshners and what's on his car CD player.

VM: Cars obviously rank very highly amongst the personal possessions of today's football stars. Where do they rank in your scale of things?

TL: After houses and clothes, but a good car is an essential possession.

VM: Who's the most car obsessed footballer you've had on Soccer AM?

TL: They all seem to love a car, but Craig Hignett used to sort them out for players, whatever that means, so I suppose he's the clever one.

VM: What was the first road car you ever owned?

TL: A Renault 5. Awful car that never started. Essential you have jump leads with a car like that.

VM: What car do you drive now?

TL: An Audi A8 and a Grande Cherokee Jeep.

VM: Is what car you drive important to the ladies?

TL: Of course. You know it and they know it.

VM: Ever tried to beat someone off the lights?

TL: Yes, but not in a Renault 5 - not a chance.

VM: So what's the fastest you've ever driven in a car?

TL: I've never driven on a racing track, but I've broken the law if you know what I mean.

VM: What winds you up about other drivers?

TL: I tell you what winds me up about getting in other people's cars and that's car air fresheners. Why anyone would want one in their car is beyond me. They give me headaches and make me nauseous.

VM: Are men or women better drivers?

TL: Men, women spend too much time fussing.

VM: And what is currently in the car CD player?

TL: Babyshambles, Arctic Monkeys, Richard Ashcroft, Cypress Hill Greatest hits.

VM: Formula One or Egg Chasing?

TL: Formula One.

VM: Any chances of a Top Gear presenter / F1 driver on Soccer AM? Fernando Alonso's a huge Soccer fan and lives in Oxford!

TL: Of course - got his number?

VM: What's the one car you'd love to drive but haven't had the chance?

TL: I would love to have a go in a Formula One car.

VM: When were you last happiest in a car?

TL: Driving back from footy on Tuesday. We play "pick up" six a side football with the Soccer am boys every week and my team won. I left with a smile and a chant of "easy, easy, easy."
