AVOID SUMMER DRIVING STRESS!
Ten quick tips to keep you relaxed and sane during that long summer road trip.
1. Map it out
Are you sure you know where you're going before you set out? It always helps to plan you're route in advance so you don't have to keep looking at the map and taking your eyes off the road. If you're heading into parts unknown, this is essential. Got sat nav? Don't rely on it! Make sure you have a road map in your car as back-up.
2. Don't be a dipstick - check your oil and water
Yes, we know it sounds simple and everyone tells you to do it but, be honest, how often do you actually do it? When did you really last check your oil and water? Over a month ago? If you change your own oil, ensure that the oil is to the correct level on the dipstick and always wipe using a clean cloth.
3. Check your tyre pressure
Does 2.8 bar mean anything to you? If not, chances are you haven't checked your tyre pressure for quite some time. Although you may get away with a pancake-like tyre for a quick jaunt to the shops, on a hot day and on a long trip, you don't want the threat of a puncture or tyre failure ruining your journey. You will find your tyre pressure printed on the inside of the glove box or in the car manual. It only takes a couple of minutes using the air machine at the garage.
