Water vibration - Jurassic Park (1993)

The effect: In the film’s most iconic moment, the footfalls of an approaching dinosaur cause ripples in a glass of water.
But how? Forget all the incredible dinosaur effects – the thing everyone remembers from Jurassic Park is a glass of water sitting on a dashboard. The scene was actually inspired by Spielberg listening to music in his car and noticing the heavy bass vibrations. After many frustrating and expensive attempts, the perfect concentric circles were made in the water by simply plucking a guitar string attached to the dashboard. Instant dino danger.
