Plucked from obscurity to play wholesome lad Charlie Bucket 40 years ago this year, Ostrum declined to follow up Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory and pursue his acting career – it's his only credit to date. In fact, for a long time, the now veterinarian pretended he wasn't a former child star, famously not telling his wife of his acting past until he met her mother. He's cooled it a bit on the anonymity now and can occasionally be seen talking about Wonka on the chat-show circuit.
