Hong Kong Phooey
As the second Incredible Hulk movie hits multiplexes, we look at the other comic and cartoon superheroes itching for big screen action.
Mild police station janitor by day, karate-chopping crime solver by night, and all of the time a dog. Hong Kong Phooey hit TV screens during the 1970s craze for martial arts, dispatching evil doers with a somewhat less-than-effective kung fu routine (it was his cat Spot that did most of the crime solving). Involved many racial stereotypes you couldn't get away with now. Played/voiced by: Jet Li? Don't forget the Asian-influenced cartoon crime fighter was actually voiced by Afro-American Scatman Crothers.
