Tom Cruise is the second-in-command of the Church of Scientology cult, according to a new book by Princess Diana's biographer, Andrew Morton.
The explosive book claims that the Hollywood star is consulted by Scientology leader David Miscavige on "every aspect of policy", and that he tailors his career to the suit Scientology aims. Miscavige was believed to have joined Cruise on his honeymoon following his marriage to Katie Holmes and to have been involved in chosing Cruise's recent movie roles.
More shockingly Morton's book alleges that Cruise's daughter, Suri, was conceived using frozen sperm from Scientology's dead founder L. Ron Hubbard and that the cult's leaders encouraged him to end his marriage with Nicole Kidman because of her Catholic beliefs. It is also claimed that Kidman fears the release of career damaging tapes revealing intimate sexual details if she speaks out against Cruise's faith.
The book 'Tom Cruise, An Unauthorized Biography' is not being released in the UK because of strict libel laws but is set to be available in the US from the 15th January. Cruise is rumoured to be preparing a $50 million lawsuit.
