The story tells of two struggling criminals (Ryan Phillippe and Benicio Del Toro) who kidnap a pregnant surrogate mother, on the verge of delivery, and head for Mexico. The hapless duo become entangled in a negotiating skirmish when the baby's wealthy parents-to-be send an ageing mercenary to deliver the ransom and a couple of bodyguards to ensure the safe return of the pregnant woman. Also on hand are Taye ("Go") Diggs, James ("Mickey Blue Eyes") Caan and Juliette ("The Other Sister") Lewis as the expectant abductee. Oscar-winning screenwriter Christopher ("The Usual Suspects") McQuarrie helms the drama, making his feature film debut.
