Eagle-Eye Cherry
Son of jazz cornettist Don Cherry, half-brother to rapping pop star Neneh Cherry, Eagle-Eye (named because when he was first born he stared up at his father through one eye) spent his school days between New York and Sweden, on the road with his father and earning a crust as a child actor in NBC series South Beach and The Cosby Show. When his father died in 1995 songwriting became an outlet for his emotions and Eagle-Eye soon penned debut album Desireless (1997). Initially a hit across Scandinavia, the huge international success of the single Save Me propelled the album to Number 5 in the US (Number 6 in the UK) selling four million copies worldwide and making his gentle, jazz-blues tinged acoustic pop a favourite of music channel VH1. Led by the single Are You Having Fun Yet?, follow-up album Living In The Present Future (2000) reached Number 12 in the UK and he featured on Santana's Grammy-winning album Supernatural (1999), but his fame dwindled out and later works Sub Rosa (2003) and Live and Kicking (2007) received little attention.
