Katie Melua

Katie Melua, the successful Georgian/British singer, songwriter and musician renowned for her mix of jazz vocals with a modern pop twist, made her musical debut in 2003, and under the management of songwriter Mike Batt matured into Europe's best-selling female artist by 2006. Her first album Call Off The Search - including Number 5 single Closest Thing To Crazy - went to Number 1 in the UK album chart, and within five months had achieved 1.8 million sales. Building on this early success, Melua embarked on a number of tours in Europe and the US, culminating in the release of her second album Piece by Piece in 2005. It was another Number 1 album, going platinum four times over, and the song Nine Million Bicycles became her first UK Number 1 single. Melua released the album Pictures in 2007, her third and reportedly last collaboration with Batt.
