Paolo Nutini

Cutting a dash as a fresh-faced pop troubadour, Nutini goes beyond the bounds of most singer/songwriters peppering his songs with tinges of ska, jazz skat rhythms and the jauntiest of melodies. Brought up on a diet of his grandad's soul records, he started out as a roadie selling t-shirts for Glasgow rockers Speedway, before penning his own songs. Scruffy and authentic enough to make it onto festival bills, yet doe-eyed and melodic enough to woo the pop crowd, singles Last Request and Jenny Don't Be Hasty bathed in sun-drenched romance and sent debut album These Streets (2006) to Number 3 in the UK charts. Support slots with the Rolling Stones and the use of several of his songs in US TV shows Scrubs, CSI: Miami and Grey's Anatomy increased his worldwide profile before second album Sunny Side Up (2009) went to Number 1 in the UK and produced the hits Candy and Pencil Full Of Lead.
