Geeky and awkward, the Reid twins were unlikely pop stars, who became cult heroes and iconic champions of Scottish pop with anthemic hits Letter From America and (I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles. Their first national exposure came on a support tour with the Housemartins in 1986 and the bouncy vibrancy of their first two albums This Is The Story and Sunshine On Leigh quickly established them as a compelling and highly distinctive act, though their singalong style belied their political undercurrent, particularly supporting Scottish nationalism. They also had a big hit with their 1990 EP King Of The Road and albums like Persevere (2001), Born Innocent (2003), Restless Soul (2005), Life With You (2007) and Notes & Rhymes (2009) maintained an avid following. Their songs have also been featured in various movies. In 2007 they re-recorded (I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles with comic characters Brian Potter and Andy Pipkin (Peter Kay and Matt Lucas) as a Comic Relief charity single.
