Madonna's 2006 Confessions tour took its title too literally for some, with one section of the show featuring Madge suspended on a crucifix while singing Live To Tell. Catholic groups were outraged - and not for the first time in Madonna's career - but she explained the set-piece as a comment on what it means to share a harrowing experience rather than an anti-church statement.
