Wild things: Animals named after musicians
The sirens sounded for Police frontman Sting back in the 90s as his charitable commitment to the rainforest took on new meaning. After Dendropsophus stingi - a new species of tree frog – was discovered in northern Colombia, it was lovingly named after the musician, in recognition of his work with the Rainforest Foundation Fund, which he set up with wife Trudie Styler and Raoni Metuktire, a Kayapo Indian leader in Brazil.
