The Who
Most infamous moment: Amidst all the band's instrument trashing and eardrum battering whilst on tour, it's the story of self-destructive drummer Keith "The Loon" Moon (far left) driving a Rolls into a hotel swimming pool whilst fleeing naked from the police that's become the stuff of legend. Whether it's entirely true or not is another (less entertaining) story.
Worst crimes: Moon practically invented the art of hotel room trashing - flushing countless explosives down toilets, merrily tossing TVs from windows and starting food fights. All of which saw him banned from most hotel chains in America, but emulated by wannabe hellraisers the world over.
Memorable quote: Roger Daltrey on the band's turbulent heyday: "We lived the life with Keith Moon. It was all Spinal Tap magnified a thousand times."
Summed up in song: My Generation (1965)
