Oingo Boingo
Now best known as a prolific film and TV score composer, with credits ranging from The Simpsons theme to all but one of Tim Burton's movies - Danny Elfman (pictured centre) spent the Eighties and early Nineties with his quirky eight-piece pop band Oingo Boingo (formerly called The Mystic Knights Of The Oingo Boingo). Silly lyrics, spiky brass and New Wave harmonies were the order of the day, with Elfman sounding like a cross between Freddie Mercury and a devilish circus ringmaster. Suitably, they provided the soundtrack for Eighties nerd classic Weird Science.
