Fantastic Four soundtrack

The soundtrack to what promised to be the movie hit of the summer, until it was panned by every critic in the business - this OST covers a remarkably wide range of styles, from out-and-out rock through to hip hop, pop and emo-core, and as with many movie theme albums features songs that were either specifically written for the film or were "inspired" by it. Which let's face it, boys and girls, is record company speak for "Hey, we need to boost an artist's profile and even if their music is totally incompatible with the plot of the movie today's young movie-goer will never notice will they?" Cynical? Moi?

The film's lead single, Everything Burns, is a pompous emo-core ballad courtesy of Evanescence's Ben Moody featuring Anastacia, while Velvet Revolver chip in with Come On Come In and Joss Stone does her thing with Whatever Happened To The Heroes.

The rest is fairly harmless stuff, although Sum 41 get an outing, which shows that the record industry's attitude towards charity doesn't just extend to Live 8.
