From the label that brought you the Crazy Frog comes an artist as far removed from such bubblegum "creativity" as it's possible to get without leaving the universe we currently inhabit.
It is no exaggeration to suggest that Hayley Hutchinson is perhaps one of the most impressive and talented singer-songwriters to have come onto this particular strand of the music scene for a long time. While there are quite a few young women plying their country-esque, folky, alt rock trade, few have managed to capture the essence, the soul of what they are trying to achieve with such consummate skill as York-based Hutchinson, who if around when Ms J. Mitchell was first starting out, would have given the Canadian a good run for her money.
Produced by Shed Seven's Fraser Smith and recorded in a York studio inside a week, Hutchinson's songs suggest a maturity that some older hands have rarely managed in a whole career of singing and writing songs; Find Myself Lost is typical, as is the funky and upbeat Deadman.
Ms Hutchinson could well be a very big star in the US on the back of this record. But remember, we found her first.
