Hot Chip - The Warning review

A deliciously eclectic stew of styles, The Warning, Hot Chip's second album, takes in electronica in its purest form and then adds liberal dashes of pop, quirky lo-fi dance music and old-skool techno re-arranged for a new generation. New single Boy From School is an absolute delight; hypnotic and infectious Casio-esque rhythms snake around one's brain, ever so subtly, while Alexis Taylor's androgynous vocals hypnotise the senses with their silken lilting.

Hot Chip have toured with the likes LCD Soundsystem, Mylo and recently in the States with Stereolab - and it shows. There's a refreshing attitude to the band's music, one that strikes out on its own and marks its journey in a wonderfully unique way.

Those concerned about the possible demise of innovative music should turn to Hot Chip; they'll find they have nothing to fear.
