Overblown euro-pop cheese from Danish pair whose hearts can't stretch beyond pumping for love

While last year's ubiquitous chart smash From Paris To Berlin was our first introduction to the dubious charms of this Danish pop duo, Lina Rafn and Paw Lagermann are old hands. Since forming in 1997, the pair have consistently topped Scandinavian charts peddling their clubby dance anthems like a more hard-wearing, durable Aqua. On this, their third studio album, Infernal have shamelessly plumped for an inoffensive euro-pop bounce in the hope of worldwide success.

As is often the case with such acts, ideas are in short supply beyond singles. From Paris To Berlin is undoubtedly fun, while their cover of Laura Branigan's Eighties hit Self Control is unintentionally hilarious camp disco nonsense. Beyond that, Infernal deliver faux-heartfelt clubby pop that finds them caught between two camps - the irreverence of the Vengaboys and the earnestness of Roxette - all the while to a never-ending four to the floor beat. The result is like being kept up all night by someone smacking you round the head with some clammy pink hotpants.
