Like the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s never happened. London's finest rock n roll family shake up the sound of yesteryear
North London siblings Kitty, Daisy & Lewis probably hate people focusing on their age but the fact that they're all still teenagers means they can approach dusty old rock n roll, blues, jazz and country with a passion and gusto you're unlikely to hear from Jools Holland and his old mates. This is no pastiche act - they mean it and unfettered by producers, or 21st century technology record everything on old analog tape in their living room.
Lewis, at 19, is the wise sage of the trio and resident multi-instrumentalist, but what really whips things along is the hollered vocals of his younger sisters Kitty and Daisy. Lead track Going Up The Country and Got My Mojo Working are good time standards, but as with the lesser-known covers and the Lewis-penned Buggin' Blues the enthusiasm and energy gives the dusty old grooves a kick up the rear. How long an act obsessed with 78s can survive in the world of MP3s remains to be seen, but this is a fine record.
