Make no mistake, The Tourniquet is one heck of a good album. Brimming over with gentle, classy pop tunes courtesy of Norwegian songsmith Magnet, aka Even Johansen, it weaves its way into your soul and once there steadfastly refuses to let go.
Co-produced by Magnet and Jason Faulkner, whose credits include working with Air and Beck, the album is measured without being dull or lacking pace; take The Pacemaker, as sublime a rock/pop tune as you're likely to hear in a long time, while the vocal harmonies throughout Fall At Your Feet stay with you for ages after the song itself has stopped. Miss Her So breaks your heart with its tale of lost love, but believe me, you won't mind.
A truly quality record, it's encouraging to hear intelligent pop music being made and with such an over-riding commitment to quality. Magnet is a find - treasure him.
