Compilation of eclectic goodies from sinister cartoon zombies

This collection of remixes, b-sides, and unreleased tracks from Damon Albarn’s cartoon pop band proves again that it exists as more than a simple vanity project from the Blur frontman, thanks in part to excellent collaborators and musicians. Here, the cross-section of tracks charts Albarn’s developments and influences.

While recent favourites such as D.A.R.E. and Feel Good Inc. are present in remixed or demo form, it’s with songs such as the Blur-esque Hong Kong and We Are Happy Landfill, featuring The Bees, that we see the development of a real creative core. World music influences abound and the remixes prove that Gorillaz give talented producers (Stanton Warriors, DFA) plenty to work with.
