You don't need us to tell you that the history of Hollywood actors turned rockstars is littered with "vanity project" casualties. Where countless others have spectacularly failed, however, the diminutive Jared Leto appears to have pulled off the transition with considerable success, to date raking in over a million album sales with his emo-rock outfit 30 Seconds To Mars. The reasons are simple enough, and in evidence on this new single - 30 Seconds' brand of slickly-produced, angsty emo, although indistinguishable from most of their peers, has just enough credibility to be embraced by the target market (teens and young adults), whilst Leto himself can sure as hell belt out a tune as if he means every word. It's not breaking any boundaries, but this is clearly a serious undertaking for Leto and his bandmates rather than an indulgent "side project".
