Sheridan Smith gets RTS Awards nod
Sheridan Smith Sheridan Smith is up for Best Actress at this year's Royal Television Society (RTS) Programme Awards.
The 31-year-old beauty faces stiff competition from 'Accused II' stars Anne Marie Duff and Olivia Colman for the prize, while Sean Bean - who is best known for playing Boromir in 'The Lord of the Rings' movie trilogy - is up for Best Actor alongside Lennie James and Oliver Lansley.
The BBC have a hat-trick of nods in the Drama Series category with 'Call the Midwife', 'Sherlock' and 'Line of Duty', while talent show 'Britain's Got Talent' will go up against 'Celebrity Juice' and 'Dynamo: Magician Impossible' for the Entertainment prize.
Jack Whitehall has been nominated for the Comedy Performance accolade for his portrayal of JP in Channel 4 sitcom 'Fresh Meat', which will take on 'Alan Partridge: Welcome to the Places of my Life' and 'Twenty Twelve' for the Scripted Comedy award.
'Coronation Street', 'EastEnders' and 'Hollyoaks' will face off for the Soap and Continuing Drama gong, and the coverage of last year's London Olympics and Paralympics are up against Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee Concert for the Live Event accolade.
