In one of her last interviews before the Olympic Games, Great Britain’s Olympic bronze medallist and favourite for gold in Beijing, Heptathlete Kelly Sotherton discusses her unique training techniques and Olympic hopes.
“I’ve been using a unique training technique called AchieveVision, which is another way of getting an edge on my competitors. Over the last eight months I’ve learned how to train my eye muscles to focus better on things like a hurdle, high jump or long jump board. If I can get a better vision of those things it could mean the difference between gold and silver at the end of the day. It’s something different that nobody else is doing that could give me an edge. “I have very good vision and don’t wear glasses but the training Johnson and Johnson has given me can take it that extra step forward. I have been learning to focus on things like pens, cards and small things together as well as directional stuff. It’s like training any muscle but it’s an elite form of eye training that someone on the street wouldn’t consider. I’ve never been able to do those magic eye things before but now I find it easy.”
