The untimely death of 36-year-old Rob Gardner prompted the introduction of a new award, for Innovation at the European Poker Awards. Gardner was the producer on the first three series of Late Night Poker and was the first person to successfully pioneer the use of “under the table hole card cameras” that today we take for granted. Were it not for Gardner, the poker “boom” would not be as big as it is today.
