Teams

Bermuda - Population: 65,773

The Bermudans have never competed in the World Cup, their international cricket history is brief to say the least and the fact that they are grouped in Pool B with Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh means they will in all likelihood defeated three times on the trot. This tournament provides them with some invaluable exposure to the game but one hopes that they don't return home hopelessly disillusioned by three huge defeats. Coached by former West Indian international Gus Logie and winners of the ICC Americas Championship in 2006.

Irvine Romaine, the burly 34-year-old Bermuda have chosen to front their cause, has played all of 13 international matches and even has an ODI ton to his name. A decent off-spinner too.

Dean Minors is a wicket-keeper/batsman who has produced the goods for his country since their emergence on the international scene. 37 years of age, 10 ODI caps under the belt and a highest score of 68, Minors is the closest thing Bermuda have to an experienced veteran and will call on him for his Ôwealth' of knowledge come their opening WC match against India on the 19th of March.

David Hemp is an elegant left-hander who has played first-class cricket in both England and South Africa. Once went on a tour with England A and continues to further his first-class endevours in the UK, but will represent his country of birth in the World Cup. Likely to come good for Bermuda on at least two of their occasions in the West Indies.

Verdict

They will hope to put up something of a fight against Bangladesh but likely to finish stone last in Pool B.
