Canada - Population: 32,837,600

Canada recently participated in a triangular series involving Scotland and Kenya in Mombasa, Kenya. They played each team twice, but could only pick up a consolation victory in their final match against Kenya. These are not the results they would have wanted in preparation for the 2007 World Cup. Canada will participate in the Division One tournament of the ICC World Cricket League where they will play Bermuda, Ireland, Kenya, Netherlands and Scotland. Their build up to the World Cup continues with a tri-series against Bangladesh and Bermuda in Antigua. Once they touch down on Caribbean shores, Canada will be well prepared. Coached by Andy Pick who hails from England. Grouped in Pool C with Kenya, England and New Zealand.

The Canadians enjoyed a relatively successful stint in the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. They did not pass the group stages, but one of their key players made history against the West Indies at Centurion. John Davison scored the fastest World Cup century in history - a remarkable 111 from 76 balls.

John Davison is not only Canada's most famous cricketer but he is also their current captain. He has played in 15 One-day internationals and has best bowling figures of three for 15 against Kenya in Cape Town during the 2003 World Cup. This will probably be his last World Cup as he is already on the wrong side of 35.

Abdool Samad has played nine One-day internationals. He is a talented all-rounder and often keeps wicket. He has a highest score of 50 scored against the Kenyans in the final match of the tri-series in Mombasa. He is relatively inexperienced at international cricket but has a bright future. Samad is also a handy right-arm off-break bowler.

Verdict

Canada will not make it past the first round. Their group is just too strong.
