When Second Division strugglers Sunderland made it all the way to the FA final in 1973, no club outside the top flight had won the Cup in more than 40 years. The Black Cats were to take on Leeds United, who came to Wembley as Cup holders for their third Final in four years. But a first half swivel and volley from Sunderland's Ian Porterfield (pictured) produced the only goal in the match.
