Things could only get better after Sven left, couldn't it? Sven Goran-Eriksson was replaced by, er, Sven's right-hand man. That man was Steve McClaren, the chap who took Middlesbrough to the heady heights of 14th in the Premiership. The former Middlesbrough coach was handed the job by the FA in August 2006.
