Albers faces a make or break year - after two years marking time at the back of the grid, he needs to start showing some form or he may well be on the way out - even though he leads F1's first true Dutch team.
He first made his name as German F3 champion in 1999, but after just a year in F3000 he switched to the DTM touring car scene, something drivers usually do once their single-seater days are over.
Three successful years followed before he was picked up by Minardi and made his F1 debut in 2005, maanging to score points at the withdrawal-hit US grand Prix.
Both at Minardi and at Midland in 2006 he has managed by and large to outshine his team-mates, but unless the Ferrari engines can provide some extra power he looks set to languish at the back of the grid once again.
