This looks like being the year when Heidfeld, a champion at almost every level below F1, breaks through as the number one German driver and team leader at BMW.
Early seasons at Sauber and Prost saw him often overshadowed by talented team-mates, but last year saw a turning point as he started to become a front-runner.
